We were awesome during the can food drive, but our level of greatness is only meaningful if its consistent - and becoming an irrelevant hypocrite is not acceptable.
Lets get some 87 bricks to join with the few other classes that have contributed bricks. ($20 per brick)
- lets get a class leader
- lets make a plan
- lets set some obtainable goals
- lets get STARTED AND INVOLVED
This reminds me of the time I visited Africa, I stayed a tad with my cousins who Like those kids had that huge water container outside their apartment complex like in the video but then I visited my Grans house which was the exact oppisite, Large house underground plumbing like here she even had a maid, so I got to experience both worlds.
ReplyDeleteIm not saying I understand what those kids have gone through but I guess I have a really small feel for it so Im 100% on board this project.
Id love to help out in any way possible, Im not the greatest with documentaion but I can take up the post of reminder and im up for leading as well.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering how many students exactly do we have in our class?
This is a very true statement of how we contributed so much in the can food drive but not at all in adopting a village, either way we helped the people that are starving from hunger but were not helping the people who need a home and adopting a village to keep in touch with them and help them, this is an equal cause we can help thus make people's lives better that we don't even know, just relating to Jame's father helping save lives in the twin towers and he doesn't even know them.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to help and take a stand and help adopt a village, i would like to keep in charge of getting money from people.
If we get a brick for ever $20, i think $5-$10 from each person would do a good job.
Any opinions?
@Zak, we have 21 grade 8 and 8 grade 7 (plus thamil is gone)
ReplyDeleteI think the leadership isn't me, but i can help gather the stuff needed.
ReplyDeletePlan, we could gather $5-$10 from each person and raise a lot of money to help adopt a village and help the children get school ,education, water etc.
Goals, we could reach about 15=20 bricks .. i guess well if you do the calculation we have 21+8= 29 students (without thamil it would be 28) and it will be 28x5=140, and since $20 is each block representation, 140 divided 20= 7 so we will get 7 blocks for $5 per person.
If we do $10 per person the calculation will be 28x10=280. 280 divided 20 = 14 blocks ..
@Talwinder that good.... Atleast 14 blocks for every student to contrubute $10. But not everyone will get $10 on time. But anyway good calculation.
ReplyDeleteThis is just like the caned food drive because if all the students brought $10 then our class would have alot of things for our donation. The metre in the caned food drive repersents each block in this Adopt a village.
In good with money but ill pass with leader.I can help with money collection and tallying how much each student brang in.Thamils only gone for 2 weeks i think so he will be back soon to contribute.$5 is a good amount per student.5x29=145 145/20=7.25 so we will be able to get 7 bricks and that onlt if everyone contributes.
ReplyDelete@ prayas then its just going to be the same thing as the can food drive since it did take a long time to get the money in for that.
ReplyDelete@Talwinder yea i think $5-$10 is a good amount becuase its going to a good cause.Everyone has to contribute so we can make our goal.We need an amount the entire class is able to bring in.
ReplyDelete@Talwinder we have 8 grade 7 students including Thamil.
ReplyDelete@Prayas, yeah $10 is a great amount of money, not everyone could bring it in, but its for a good cause, talk it over with your parents and encourage them to participate in like a once in a life time thing to help the children get education.
ReplyDeleteWho's going to be the leader though? If there is a vote I'm going to vote for gurinder, he was able to handle the movie project like getting the script, costume design.
ReplyDelete@stephanie I agree we could only accomplish the 5-10$ of everyone will be able to contribute
ReplyDelete@abdulahi yeah my mistake
I vote zak because he is the leader of the s hook and he is doing a great job at it an he already said earlier he wanted to do it
It is probably going to take a long time to get the money in but if we have Mr.Cheney take out the checklist and caculate how much every students comtributes. We should make up an amount that everybody can bring in and if they do well done but if they don't then that is their choice. We should not bother them if they do not bring it in time, we just have to hope that they will bring it in time. Not every one has axcess to money all the time. Some people can bring it in after others.
ReplyDeleteSchool*
ReplyDeleteI think this is a good idea and it's not too hard for everyone to contribute. I think if everyone gave $5-$10 dollars; like Talwinder said, it would help many people. It would also give us 7-14 bricks.
ReplyDeleteAs for the leader, I think I'll pass on that. But I'm not sure who should be the leader if I had to nominate someone.
I thrid the nomination for zak being the leader.
ReplyDeletehow about a class vote maybe tomorrow? just to make things easier so we know who wants to do it.
ReplyDeleteAbdulahi I agree but Cheney doesn't big them he reminds them to bring it In and not forget
ReplyDeleteWe could always share the leadership between me and Gurinder but its best like you guys said to have a vote and see who else is interested.
ReplyDeleteI will be ok with helping people collect the money but I will pass for being leader. @Talwinder I also agree.
ReplyDelete@Zak I think you are on to something, making sure other people also get a chance.
ReplyDeleteYeah I would like Yo help with collecting money like I said before and like make count of who brought it in on time and etc
ReplyDeleteAnd of course if people can contribute more than $10 dollars that would be great but i think a realistic goal would be $5 dollars.
ReplyDeleteyes i agree that this is a very true statement of how we contributed so much in the can food drive but not at all in adopting a village. If we can help the people who are starving then we can definitely do something to help people who need homes and a place to live. Yes i agree with Talwinder we can help with collecting money and maybe the person who got the most money would receive a small price or something like that.
ReplyDeleteyeah just like what we did when we had the food drive i think that everyone contributed and maybe we can do the same but like i said before maybe the person who brought in the more money can get a small price.
ReplyDeletei agree with having a vote for who is going to be the leader but i think that Zak and Gurinder should both do it since one person is away the other one can take the lead and it also makes it easier for the leader because it's not like this is the only thing we have to do. So i think that we should not vote but maybe both Zak and Gurinder can help but if most of the people from the class wants to have only one leader then we can vote.
ReplyDeleteyeah we can contribute about $5-$10 but if people want to bring in more then that then i think that they are welcome to bring it because the more contribution of the money we have the better it is. But yes over all i think that it should be about $5-$10 each.
ReplyDeleteHELLO ANYONE THERE!! FINE BE LIKE THAT PEOPLE!!!!
ReplyDeleteOK so if people don't want to contribute or has something to share then maybe they can talk to Mr.Cheney and maybe they don't have to contribute. But only if they have a problem, if not then i think or maybe not think have to contribute to the cost and help ADOPT A VILLAGE.
yeah we can get about 7-14 bricks but only if everyone can participate in this. If not then we will have to do something about the it because we really want to help adopt a village and help the people who are homeless. Mr.Cheney i was wondering that about how many people gave a Tonnie for Japan because maybe based on that we can guess weather who is going to help or not because i believe that some people DID NOT give a Tonnie for Japan.
ReplyDelete@8/7 id like to help with the tallying of the money and of who brought how much with talwinder.Who else wants to be the leaded so we can all vote so its fair.
ReplyDeleteHELLO It's GETTING BORING TALKING TO MYSELF OR MAYBE POSTING BY MYSELF!!!!!!!!!! ANYONE THERE!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh as i was saying that in being a leader what if other people rather than just Zak and Gurinder wants to be a leader and if someone else wants to be then i think that we will have to vote and i think that i will pass voting because i really want 2 people to help instead of only having 1 leader.
THANK YOU STEPHANIE FOR AT LEAST POSTING SOMETHING!!!!! ITS BORING POSTING BY YOURSELF.
ReplyDeleteoh so what were you saying oh yeah we don't know who else wants to be the leader yet because some people are not even on the blog yet but it's OK and oh yeah i want to help too tallying the money and how much with Stephanie and Talwinder.
@Hitakshee LOL but yeah I think that if everyone contributes a little bit we can make a lot. Like in the can food drive. Each person wasn't contributing a ton of food but we ended up with 2550 items which proves for this that if each person brings in $5 we can actually earn a lot.
ReplyDeleteBut Stephanie do you think that we need someone to actually help do the tallying and counting because if not needed then fine but if yes then count me in i am helping.
ReplyDeleteSo far only a few classes have raised $20(Ms.Merraro etc.) whixk is onlt 1 brick, with our plan if you come through with it we will have 7-14 bricks.
ReplyDelete@Hitakshee, sometimes the best conversation is with yourself
ReplyDelete@leadership, a vote sounds good in theory but people are always hurt or less motivated if they lose, and in this case leadership i not a competition. Anyone who wants to lead and inspire is in. We will make a leadership team.
@jobs, it seems many have volunteered to take on jobs and that is leadership
@ money, money is tight and yes $10 is seemingly alot to expect, although we nearly got everybody for the food drive.
great start
YEAH THANK YOU ALYSSA but not the LOL part it, trust me it's not funny when you are blogging by yourself.
ReplyDeleteyes i agree with that in the food drive we ended up having 2550 items and i wasn't there that time but whatever it's okay and yes based on that i think that we would be able to reach our goal if everybody contributes.
@Hitakshee yeah I think we do need someone to do the tallying and counting because then some people would not pay and no one would know because no one is tracking that. But do we need so many people to do that? Not to discourage people but I think only one or two people are needed to do that.
ReplyDelete@Hitakshee lol your welcome...
ReplyDeleteYes i think we do so whe know who brought in how much money so its fair if people just brought in money we wont know how much or who brought it in.I say its better to be organized then have everything all mixed up.
If we all contribute just like the food drive we can reach our goal. When are we going to start collecting money?Because it better be soon because some classes already have bricks up there and we want to contribute before its done.
@Hitakshee it is funny if you make a big deal out of it (like you were).
ReplyDelete@Mr Cheney yeah anyone who wants to lead should.
@Mr.Cheney only sometimes the best conversation is best by yourself but when you are hyper trust me it's not fun but yes i agree sometimes having the conversation is by yourself. i also agree that we can have a leadership team and if that is so i am in the leadership team.
ReplyDeleteYeah alyssa, me and stephanie are going to do that?
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah we have a great start on th way, lets not just speak it 8/7 let actucally do it and take action.
I never felt the way these kids felt, but I know my mom had to do this and even my cousins in Africa had to do this.
ReplyDeleteI want to be aprt of this project because I dont want to sit back and let them have less thatn what we have.
I never been in this situation were i had to survive with out an home, without any education or living with out clean drinking water just think about it and me ever being in this situation gives me the humbles.
ReplyDelete@ EL PRESEDENTE your fist comment (your very first comment)I have never experienced what they go through because my Dad is royalty in Ghana,Africa and at my grandparents house my cousins always get the water so I really havent had to do that.
ReplyDeleteYes THANK YOU Alyssa for HUMILIATING Me!!!!!!!! THANK YOU Stephanie AS WELL!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed i agree that we should have 2-3 people to do the tallying and counting because just like said that some people don't participate in this and the people who don't want to be in a leadership group or aren't going to do anything then i think this is going to be a job for them.
Ok so we have some people who want to do jobs lets get things straight and organized:
ReplyDeleteZak and gurinder-vote to be the leaders..any more people?
Talwinder,Hitakshee,Stephanie(me)- might be looking after the money and keeping track.
Anythings else..?
Any people how want to take on more jobs..?
@ stephanie this is really great for the ideas on how we can get the money but to get everyone to go along with it that we have to have enough people to go along with it.
ReplyDeleteThe situation these kids are in really humbles me. I have no family or experience in that type of lifestyle but I think if I was I'd be grateful for the money we give to help them.
ReplyDeleteI Agree with talwinder we keep saying that we are going to do things and we never do them so lets take action and not wait!!We need to talk to the entire class because some people have not checked the blog yet and need to know what we are doing and what needs to happen.
ReplyDelete@Hitakshee you're very welcome :p
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah so whoever is doing the counting and tallying should say so so we know.
Yes Talwinder i agree that unless you have never been in this kind of situation you can't feel how those people would have felt would be feeling right now. I have also never have been in this kind of situation and this is why my parents also tell me that you should be always thank full to what you have and i agree with that to because some people have things but they are never thank full to it every time they see something new they always want that thing but they never think about those who don't have anything not even a house to live in. So this is why "YOU SHOULD BE ALWAYS THANK FULL TO WHAT YOU HAVE"
ReplyDelete@ Talwinder my mom and my cousins have a home and a school to go to but like what Zak said about the water my mom would probably have to walk a far distance just to get some water and so do my cousins.
ReplyDeleteBut kids without a home is so sad when I hear stories like that I feel like I want to cry because they dont have what we have.
@sharpshooter1948 thank you and for gettign people to go along with our plan is going to be easy because just like the food drive we work really good together and some of the people are akready on board so we will see in class.
ReplyDelete@Stephanie if their is going to be a leadership "TEAM" i would want to be in it because i want to be in it and if any other people want to be in it TELL US RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!! SO WE CAN GET THIS STRAIGHT.
ReplyDelete@Hitakshee yes it going to get confusing if we dont get things straightened out before they become probelms. But Mr.Cheney is going to talk to the class tommorow and if we need more time we have thursday in the library because its a day 0.
ReplyDeleteYes we will see in class and decide if their are any other jobs which i think not. But so far yes a great start.
ReplyDeleteI will be supporting the cause.I am willing to be the class leader.
ReplyDeleteMy plan is to persuade (not exactly pressure) everyone into bringing 5 dollars. After that, the more dedicated members can bring in 10.If there's any people that would strongly like to donate, they would go beyond.I'm sure that everyone knows where the money is going to,so we should be able to accomplish a respectable feat.If everyone brings in 5 dollars, that's around 100 dollars,so 5 bricks.
We can go past 100,we can make promotions by paper or we can send a letter home to the families and persuade them to bring more
@Mentally Superior in the Dark Arts of Negativity,Criticism, and Speech Giving,Artistically Overpowering,Imperial Precursor of the Entire Intergalactic Armada and beyond,Darthinder, i agree people that are more dedicated and actually care about this cause will help the donation a little bit more and try to put more effort in helping it more than the other people, so if everyone brings at least $5 than that will get us to 5 bricks, but i think we should go for more and be like what we did for the food donation too .. don't you think?
ReplyDeleteWe defiantly got on a great start with people getting on board and taking some action on leadership and some responsibility and taking action .. we should have a class discussion for tommorow for the people that haven't visited the blog so they can also get updated to what they should do and or if they want to help.
ReplyDelete@Vanessa, the whole program we are donating to is for all the causes, like what you gave an example that is real can be they have a school and home but not water, they have to go long distance, well this cause can help give you clean drinking water NEAR you etc. Watch the video Cheney put up above.
ReplyDelete@Hitakshee, i agree that we should appreciate what we have and what we get, because there are people in the world that don't even know what it is, or they don't have any access to it.
ReplyDelete@Stephanie, yeah all we do is talk and not getting anything done, we have to improve on less talking more doing and getting jobs done and given.
ReplyDeleteAnd why is is a day 0 on Thursday?
8/7 We have to stay dedicated if we want to succeed in giving an donation, i understand if some of you can't get the $5 but try your best because we want to help this cause.
ReplyDelete@Cheney, i agree getting the $10 for the food donation was quite a lot easier than getting the food items, but then again the whole team was dedicated and they wanted to participate to make all the other classes very shocked and maybe also "rub it in their faces". I don't it will be any different getting the money for this, but this is not a competition its for adopting a village.
ReplyDeleteWell, i agree on the statement on how we should have a class vote for who should be the leader of all this and who should be leader everyone on the right path, reminding others who can bring the $5 to bring it etc. And its an opportunity for the other people who didn't have a chance to come on the blog.
ReplyDelete@Talwider i dont know but mr cheney said that thrusday was a day zero they might change it but i dont know.I agree we should vote for the leader.
ReplyDeleteDay Zero because of part 2 of the dance routine from the school of ballet
ReplyDeletepost on the FB page...im sure Adam and company have visited there
Oh, so we have to do the dance thing again?
ReplyDeleteAnd Cheney when you do have your blog workshop?
my workshop is Wed at lunch
ReplyDeleteI (Yoda) nominate the (Ultimate Evil Overlord Darthinder) to become the leader of this project because he keeps a good track of the status of our project and always has a plan.
ReplyDeleteOr if Darthinder is too busy inslaving all of man kind then I nominate @El Presidente AKA (Zak) because it sounds like Zak would be a good leader, keeping the 87 team focused.
Also Darthinder has good experience in being the leader of a project. Examples like the Food Drive, our Movie, and sometimes Drama Skits..... Again if too busy the @El Presidente could fill in....
ReplyDeleteHow we contributed so much in the can food drive. If we can help the people who are starving then we can definitely do something to help people who need homes and a place to live. I think that Zak and Gurinder should both do it since if one person is busy inslaving all of man kind in another universe, or the other is watching Celtics, then eather one could take lead in making sure that the students have brought in the money.....
ReplyDeleteZak has joined the Dark Side of the Force, with Darthinder.
If we could tell everyone into bringing $5 because then really cant bring in $10, then more dedicated members can bring in $10. If there's any people that would strongly like to donate, they would go beyond just $10, like what we did for the food donation. But I think $5-$10 is good enough. If everyone brings in 5 dollars, that's around 120 dollars, so like 6 bricks. The program supports community development in villages in Africa by meeting their basic needs such as: Education, Health Care, Water, and Sanitation. We really need to donate like how we did for the Food Drive.
ReplyDeleteI wanna help with this project :) and i think bringing 5-10 dollars is an nice idea and Talwinder i agree with you if we stay on task then we can help and by saying what we WANT to do wouldn't actually make us do it .And about the food drive we did a great job but remember in the beginning of it no one really did much until later on .And anyone can the leader.I cant really relate to them but i have seen poverty in my country in the small villages -where some of the aunts live. And i hope out help to cause helps those children :)
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great project that the me to we team has introduced to the school and so we should really start bringing in money for it the minimum is a $1 and thats not a lot of money at all to contribute for a cause like this so i think that we should contribute as much as we can preferably FIVE DOLLARS OR HIGHER ($5+) because if we raise this money it will help those do not get what we do everyday (education, family support, good food, water, shelter they deserve, etc.) and give those people what they deserve because the world's not fair but we can make it fair allof us if we only want to.
ReplyDeleteI dont agree that we should do this to rub this in other classes faces because we're suposed to do this for a good cause not for a competition if we try to compete then we are not doing this for others but for our own selfish selves.
ReplyDelete
