I think Dan is trying to make everyone think he is in this together, but we all know that is he is going to bail out of them and just make himself out of trouble free, and make his friends take all the pain by themselves, when he has an opportunity of being a good friend. Dan is full of himself and selfish in my defense and my characteristic of him.
Dan is trying to defend himself once again. He is telling his friends that were all in this together but yet hes only defending himself. He is lien to his friends so they can think that he didn't do anything bad. They probably also think that he wouldn't snitch and he would be loyal to his friends.
I think Dan is trying to make them think that there all in it together but he is trying to make himself free and let the others take the blame while he just sits back and relax.
I agree with you Talwinder that is true he is selfish if was a true friend he would atleast try to help them out of the problem.

@ Pamela your right I've done that alot but if it was my closet friends I would really help them and to be honest,I did help my friend out of trouble,but I was like Dan before.
What Dan is trying to do, in my opinion, is that he will try to persuade Sarah to break the pact first, and thus, giving him a reason to withdraw also. That would only be if they were planning this from before, and Dan hooking up with Sarah is very telling, when it comes to my inference. Dan is going to persuade Sarah, and they will leave together, Raging the others, Ruby especially, expect more "Likes" from her. Dan has betrayed the others, and for that, I inference that there will be some tension between all of them, and that will raise a question on whether someone else will betray them or if they should betray them itself. So much for "In this together" :/
@Pamela, if Dan is lieing and blameing Sarah and Rob, then i dont think he is really their friends, because if he was their friend he would not have been blaming them or lieing to them.
Dan and katie already broke up so he likes her better. since katie didn't really care about what he had to say at all she is self centered from what it seems.
The all together part when dan said it what I think he means is that when they all got in trouble they are going to have to stick together, because of what happened when they got caught cheating on the test.

i think dan called sarha beacuse he blamed everything on her so he probobly doesn't want every one to hate him so he called her to say sorry and make everyone like him again
