United We Stand 2

Is going down to "ground zero" the right choice for James and Will?

predict the outcome of their decision to go into the city.

  1. I think going to ground zero is the right choice for James and Will because James wants to go help and go find missing people like his father, he knows what it feels like, and Will wants to go to help keep company for James and go help out people, he was in the same situation as the people that are still in the buildings.

  2. Emotionally,it will let James accept the reality;according to the grieving theory. But in the ''real world'' going there to help his dad isn't realistic. But they don't know that yet.

  3. I dont think its the right decsion going to ground zero because i think James and Will are going to make it down there and James is going to end up not seeing his dad and seeing the site be demolished and i think James is gonna get more sad because he might not see his dad there.

  4. i think its proably ok for james and will to go because then james oculd see how bad it was and all and also i dont think the people helping would let them in because no one was allowed it was resteicted , so yeah , but i think i'll be good for him to understand and think about that if , his father could have really survived this.

  5. I think ground zero could be heart breaking for James and Will because all that rubble there is probably not that harmful but like finding James father under all the rubble, could maybe make James feel happy that his dad is alive, and also give the feeling of joy that he found his fater, but if James doesnt find his father,James will be in anger, grief and i guess he would be as angry then ever.

  6. i think the outcome of going intot he city is kind of bad because people will be wondering....what are kids doing here they should'nt be here.

    ReplyDelete
  7. i spelled into wrong by accident..so keep that in mind!!

  8. I think James and Will going to Ground Zero was the right thing to do because James can't stop being mad until he faces the facts that how dangerous it is in ground zero. He'll reach to ground zero but will get no axcess by police. So I think he'll go home not knowing what happened to his father.

  9. I think it is sort of the right decision because instead of waiting around when you know you can do something theres no point of waiting but on the other hand if you leave with out anyone knowing its going to be harder on them because instead of worrying about one person they have to worry about 3 now and 1 of them(will) already being injured is going to make it worse

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think James and Will deciding to go to ground zero was a good idea because it may give James the reality check he needs to get over his grieving and anger. I think that when they go to the city, police and firefighters will tell them they have to leave because it's to dangerous but James will force his way past them because he feels like he has to help find his father.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think going to ground zero was the right thing to do since James really wants to know if his father is dead from what i think. By the time they reach there they'll see maybe a bunch of police tap and fencing in the area, a officer will ask them to leave who was blocking their path.

  12. I think going to ground zero is a good idea because james really wants to see his dad and even he finds out that his dad is dead then he will know that is better then never knowing what happend and if he never finds out he will always feel guilty.

  13. Internet finally started to work again!
Only 12 comments?! I thought there would be 200+ by now

To add,For James its the most emotionally sound thing to do,but for James' mother,it is only going to be more difficult to cope with. The mother will feel as if she is going to lose her son too,not just the husband.

  14. I thought there would be more people commenting more to Gurinder, but i guess people like to have a life and enjoy their weekend

    ReplyDelete
  15. i think its a bad idea its going to be extremely packed over there. i dont now why there even there, i know James feels like its the right thing to be down there, but really in this situation its not going to benefit anyone, it may not seem like it but james is in denial just like his mom, because is he wasnt he wouldnt go to downtown and and he would exept the fact that his father is gone

    ReplyDelete
  16. i think it not such a good idea cause even if they go there James and Will won't be able to go in because as will said the area is going to blocked and i agree that it not realistic to go and help James's dad who is no more.
James feel like to go there and see in real life that's his dad is gone but he won't be able to find him.

    ReplyDelete
  17. @ gurinder i also thought there were going to be more posts since it the weekend but i guess they are working on the science project.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @heli I think it's more of a way for James to cope with losing his father if he goes to ground zero. So I think it's a good idea.

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Darthinder i agree, enough james's mother already lost her husband, she doesnt need to loose james too

    ReplyDelete
  20. @beng and@darthinder How will she lose james and its not a done deal yet that Mr.Bennet is dead he could be alive however slim the chances, and I personally belive it is the right thing to do because (this is a bit cliche) but james needs to see it to believe it, by seeing the site he may be able to move on and continue living his life if Mr.Bennet is dead.

  21. i think going to ground zero is the wrong thing to do because his mom will start to worry more and james could get hurt.its to dangerous for the crew peopel to work but ad with james there it could end up in a bad spot.

i think they will go to ground zero and will and james will hed towards the buildign but the crew si going to stop then but they ont leave so they wait there till they make em go.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @heli i agree i think if james sees it he will belive it but there is still a chance that his dad is still alive because thoes 7 people were in the stair wells and they were survived so maybe his dad is alive.

  24. @Prayas facing the fact that his father is not alive by going to ground zero is a good prediction but what if his father is a alive what do you think james will do then?

    ReplyDelete
  25. @ stephanie that may happen but there is more chance of james's dad not being able to survive the building collapse
and you know that James dad was on a higher floor and being to stay alive is a low percentage.
    but there is a possibility...

    ReplyDelete
  26. @Heli The possibility of being alive after being near the top floor, with the building completely crashing down and being crushed under the rubble due to the force of gravity isn't possible at all.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I do not think that it is a good idea for James and Will to go back to 'ground zero' because it can bring back bad memories.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @ heli it is actually more dangerous to be on a higher floor since you kinda free falling, when the ground beneath you drops its going to take a few more seconds for you to fall. And you hace nothing to stay on to break your fall also the gravitational force would be stronger. When on a lower floor things will fall on you but there is a chance something will fall down and block things from falling on you.

    ReplyDelete
  29. i think that his dad is alive but has severe injuries but then you never know like Heli said he was on the higher floor when the building collapsed even though there is a chance he is buried under all that concreate waiting to be save

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Heli, there is also hope in finding Jame's father because seven of new yorks bravest were rescued. He can be the next couple of them, but yet he was running upstairs while Will and John were going downstairs, while the firemen were going upstairs, putting there great life in danger for other citizens

    ReplyDelete
  31. @heli i agree and i never really thought about what floor he was on,but now that you mention it,it could be the reason he is alive or dead.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @El Presidente By losing James too,I mean that he can get lost in the city. The WTC is enormous,James could easily be stuck in some area of the vast land that is the city.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @gurinder He could have been in an extremly strong stairwell or in an elevator shaft like in the movie its not 100% impossible that he could surive but the chances for his surival are extremly slim.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think that going to ground zero is the right thing to do because James will not stop believnig in false hope untill he finds out the thruth about his dad.

    ReplyDelete
  35. @Heli , what do you think will happen if James' dad is alive but James wouldnt know because he was at ground zero trying to get past the crew to look for his father.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think it is the right thing to do because by James going to "ground zero" he'll be able to see the fact that there is a slim to none posibility that his father is still alive. James and his mom are in denial, they dont want to accept the fact that a loved one could be dead until they actually hear it and see it

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think that James is doing the right thing because once he realizes that theres no hope, then he'll finally cave in, because ,in a way, he is still in the stage of denial, as Will's mom had listed the stages one goes through in a life-threatening situation. So once he goes there, all those false hopes, might be released, and I guess thats bad, for short term losses, but in the long run, you cant mourn someone's death forever, so their tears will run dry, and perhaps their life would be normal, except for the fact that James's father is gone. What I am trying to say is, that James, by going to ground zero, will realize that his father had no chance, and therefore he will let go of his hopes that he has so well hidden. That would solve his stage of denial. I believe its the right thing to do, regardless of what anyone says, because it creates a sense of fulfillness, to say that you were there for that person that passed away, that means something.

    ReplyDelete
  38. i think going to ground zero is not the best decision cause right now that place will be the worst place to go right know do to so much damage and mess. it'll really diffucult to get to their cause of the clean their not going to let them in their and they could get hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  39. sometimes it is a good thing, sometimes its a bad thing, its actually up to them do decide if its right or not because its kind of a test to see if James can handle the pressure of being there in the remains of the twin tower

    ReplyDelete
  40. @gurinder but there are practically millions of people working there I doubt that he could get lost and if he was lost its manhattan I am sure a teenager would know how manouver downtown manhattan just like a teenager here could make his way around downtown toronto.

    ReplyDelete
  41. @stephanie James or Will could get hurt but they are smart. I don't think they are going to do something stupid and get themselves hurt. It will just be a way for James to deal with losing his father if he goes down to ground zero to try and help get him out. I know it's not realistic for James to try to help him get out but like I said it's a way for James to deal with his grieving.

    ReplyDelete
  42. From the perspective of Will's Mother, there's an interesting behavior that can erupt from this. Will's mother is a social worker, and she studies (she doesn't actually KNOW how it feels like...yet!)how people would react. The mother almost lost will and john, but she got them back. Now she has to deal with a similar problem, knowing that Will is gone.

    ReplyDelete
  43. @ el Pres. what is the chances of Mr.Bennet still being alive?? and what we mean by loosing james is that james getting lost in downtown New York, especially after the collapse of the twin towers

    ReplyDelete
  44. @ el presidente stair wells aren't built for strength that much. They are strong but not that strong since it is made of cement but it can fall on top of james dad. Elevator shaft are stronger since it is built diffrently form stair wells.

    ReplyDelete
  45. @Abdullahi , do you think hearing it on the news or actually going to ground zero and figuring out that his dad isnt alive is going to be better ? because going to ground zero he would see everything be ruined and he might think his fathers death was more tragic, but if he hears it on the news he wouldnt think about how he died, he was just think about that he died.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Why is everyone making the point of the crew stopping people, its a cleanup relief and the more hands on deck the better dont you think so I personally believe they'd be happy to see that more people would like to help.

    ReplyDelete
  47. @ Steph
I have to disagree that ground zero is a bad decision based on what you said. I doubt that Will and James will get into a situation because their one of the thousands trying to get to ground zero, they might not even make it, and iridescent to that, they know how to take care of themselves, if their moms allow them to roam the streets, we can almost infer that they believe that Will and John have a sense of responsibility

    ReplyDelete
  48. @ adam You are wrong because james isn't in denial only his mother is and james wants to go there to know if his dad is dead or not because even if he is dead at least he will have a chance to find his body rather then never finding it and if he does not go he will always feel guilty for not going.

    ReplyDelete
  49. @ zak that is true but somepeople don't know how to take the public transit since the bus routes are very confusing and what if they don't go downtown that often they won't know where to go.

    ReplyDelete
  50. @ talwinder the senven people were found form the other bulding and james father was in the south buliding
ya he put his life in danger to save others but we don't know if he is alvie or not this are just predications.

    ReplyDelete
  51. @Mentally Superior in the Dark Arts of Negativity and Criticism,Artistically Overpowering,Imperial Overlord of the Entire Universe and beyond,Darthinder , do you think Will's mom is going to have a panic attack just like she did when she found out the twin towers had fell down and she couldnt get through to Will and his dad.

    ReplyDelete
  52. @el pres so what your saying is that you could maneuver through downtown Manhattan which twice the size of downtown Toronto without getting lost?? (i doubt it)

    ReplyDelete
  53. @El Presidente The city, sure a teen can manuvere through it but how safe is it? The crime rates, traffic and even emotional problems.By emotional problems, what does James plan on doing if his father is actually dead and now he has to decide what to do.Will he run away and die? Or will he return to his home and get through this. But running off, that would be selfish because the mother would have to deal with the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  54. @Beng I even said the chances are slim but there still may be hope and I am just saying that james and will probally visited manhattan millions of times so they probally wont get lost, because manhattan is just like downtown and I doubt any of you would get lost in down town.@thomas true but you never know.@gurinder remeber that will has his cell phone so he isnt necessarily lost.

    ReplyDelete
  55. @Heli, there could be hope and faith for the south tower as well .. the odds are if people were found in the north tower there will be people found in the south tower as well.

    ReplyDelete
  56. @el presidente they might be happy to see more people but they're just kids so they might send them away because they don't want them to get hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  57. @ elpresidente for a clean up crew they always quarintine an area and it's going to be resitricted most likely especially to kid since they don't want them to get husrt or injured. also you have to be an official like a firemen or a paramedic that can actually help.

    ReplyDelete
  58. @El Zak , maybe people are saying that the crew is stopping people because maybe they dont want people to go in ground zero because they might get hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I think it wasn't the right thing to do for Will and James because it will get James feel even guiltier for not going with him.

I think the outcome of going down to ground zero will be that James and Will will fight their way through the police officers to get to the side they blocked off because of what the book said about not letting anyone through.

    ReplyDelete
  60. @ el presidente, Wil and James arent going there to help clean up the rubble, their going because James wants to see what his father is buried in, and James hopes to find him.

    ReplyDelete
  61. @ sharpshooter it isn't the elevator shaft that is strong, its the elevator that is the strongest in the building

    ReplyDelete
  62. @Darth-inder
It would indeed be repetitive if Eric Walters would cause the same case to occur again, but it would create a sense of realism towards how people react to these types of situations. It would show how Will's mother reacts to supposedly losing her son, right after a close call a day ago.

    ReplyDelete
  63. @Usman dont you think james could figure out if his father was alive or not from his home, and what crazy officer would let 2 teenage boys on ground zero to look for their father

    ReplyDelete
  64. @gurinder what do you mean crime rates traffic downtown is shut down theres no crime no traffic just clean up.

@Beng If I lived in new york and was as familiar with manhattan as down town I probally would be able to. And how do you know that manhattan is twice the size of downtown manhattan. I doubt that.

@sharpshooter they are teenagers and will just took the transit yesterday to get to his fathers workplace they probally know how to take the transit and even if they dont theres a transit map on the street car anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  65. @nida she didn't have a panic attack she just started denying it. Like Will's mom said, denying is part of the grieving process.

    ReplyDelete
  66. @bailee they never said what they are going to do so it could be either.2alyssa I am not sure what age will and james are but I think they would be considered more than just kids and anyone can fake an age.

    ReplyDelete
  67. @ el pres. how do you know that Will has been downtown so many times, they live in the regular suburbs, you saw in we all fall down that when they were on the train Will was going to get off with thev other people that John knew, Clearly states that he didnt know where to go.

    ReplyDelete
  68. its a good but bad idea..
its a good idea because, they need to help people, as much as they can.. and will needs to be there for james !
but its also a bad idea because, will went through alot and as his mom said after that , what he saw , what if he goes and starts like having flashbacks of what happen :O that would be intense ! and i think james wants to go down to ground zero mainly to find his dad but if he doesnt maybe its for closure ?

    ReplyDelete
  69. I think that James and Wills decision to go to ground zero is horrible! why? u ask because what if somthing happens to them what will happen to their parents how will their parents find them? What about James mother what will she do she if she doesnt have her son and her husband by her side? What if James mother did lose her husband then she might lose her son too.
Another reason why I think this is a terrible idea because what if they dont have enough money or if they lose thier way or maybe get kiddnaped or worse killed?

    ReplyDelete
  70. @ elpresidente still I don't think that but it is still posible he can get lost since he is going in buy foot, not by a public transit.

    ReplyDelete
  71. @ talwinder ya their is hope but will and james going there just sound like a bad idea isn't not safe and plus jmaes mother would be more worryed when she finds the james is near the towers
she doesn't want to lose james to

    ReplyDelete
  72. @el pres ok so they're not "kids" but they're not adults either. A person monitoring the place would probably tell them to leave because it's too dangerous with all the dust and broken cement and glass there.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Ben g i dont think they would because it would take atleast another day to find out for the rescue

    ReplyDelete
  74. @sharpshooter you never know maybe the officials there are all ready getting tired and they need more hands maybe they would just be happy for the help.

@Beng He didnt know then but he probally knows now and Will must have thought that they were in the same office thats why he was about to get off. And I didnt say I know for sure that will has been downtown so much but what I said is that they are teenagers and they probally have been there more than once.

    ReplyDelete
  75. @alyssa true but they could fake their ages.
@thomas How do you know that they never got there yet for all we know they could grab a cab then go in by foot.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I doubt that James and Will will help clear up ground zero, because they have other worries, such as looking for James's father, and wondering of what perhaps their mothers are reacting to them leaving, they dont know where they are.

    ReplyDelete
  77. @ el pres.so if you were Will's perents you would let them go to downtown new york, for reasons you could do that are much closer to the house, everything you could do downtown you could do closer rto the house

    ReplyDelete
  78. and theres a possibility that they snuck in

    ReplyDelete
  79. @Heli i agree with you its not very safe for Jame's to go to ground zero without telling his mom he is going it is very dangerous.

    ReplyDelete
  80. @el pres they could fake their ages but why would you do that?

    ReplyDelete
  81. @alyssa to enter the site if james is really serious about seeing the site than hed probally do anything to get in. @thamil I dont think they snuck in because there are probally millions of officers and guards and relief workers.
@Beng I dont agree there not everything you can do downtown can you do near your house espeically in wills case because he lives in the sub urbs where there is probally not much shopping centers or tourist attractions the stuff people go downtown to see and do.

    ReplyDelete
  82. El presidente Theres a possibility that in one area the emergency crew is needed in an emergency and they have to help and they were on patrol at night then the kids could have snuck in its a possibility

    ReplyDelete
  83. @el pres if James is serious he would do anything to get in. But they could also force their way past or sneak in. I don't know, it's just faking ages seems like a not very good idea.
