iRead 2

Hey Team, we had a shortened period today, thus we shall have our next iRead period on Thursday.  But for todays blogging task please share something about a character in your book. (a like, dislike, they remind you of something, something unique).

as well for our movie we need a full class session tomorrow to put our ideas together, and importantly picking characters, i want 3 names of real slaves that were freed on the underground railway, names and dates, we want our movie to be real.  post those findings on the movie block.

  1. book: the golden compass

im gonna talk about a main character Lyra.she lives at a collage, becuse her parents are dead and only family she has is her uncle who is always traveling up north and all.also what she did reminded me of what mrcheney was saying about how like "parents" but in this case uncle and the master at the collage, drink tokay and liquor and stuff, and she and her kichne servent freind tried it because she was influenced by them and her freind just did because he didnt wanna look scared and all

(the book and movie are pretty different and some stuff happen in the book not the movie -THE GOLDEN COMPASS)

  3. children are very observant of adults...parents, uncles, teachers, coaches, strangers.

and yes if "adults" are doing it, it certainly sends the message its ok!

  4. the book iam reading is called hit and run. my main character in this book is micheal. he is a 15 year old boy who lost his mother in a car accident when he was only 11 since then his 24 year old uncle takes care of him. i picture my character has 5 feet 6 is his height he mostly wears t shirts with dragons and wears ripped pants with converse high top sneakers. the one thing i like about my charater is that he works for himself and goes to school he is well organized. he works at a grocery store. the thing i dont like about my character is that he listens to his firends alot and doesn't think himself because one night he was walking with his firends it was midnight and they saw a open truck with sweets inside such as brownies pastries and one of his firend vin climbed in and gave a box to micheal, sal and himself and then ran off the next day police came to ask micheal some questions about that roberry and he admitted that he did it and didn't rat his firends out and he trough the box away after vin gave to him. the next day when vin found out that micheal was aressted he was so selfish that the first thing he asked was did you rat me out.

  5. YOUR BOOK IS ALMOST LIKE MY BOOK MY CHARCTER'S PARENTS ARE DEAD AS WELL AND HE ONLY HAS IS UNCLE WHO DRINKS. IT SOUNDS LIKE ONE OF YOUR CHARACTER IS IN A SITUATION LIKE MY CHARACTER HE ALSO DIDNT WANT HIS FIRENDS TO THINK HE IS A WIMP CAUSE WHEN THEY STOLE THE GOODS HE TROUGH IT BACK AND WHEN THEY ASKED HIM WHERE IS YOUR BOX MY CHARACTER SAID I FELL WHILE I WAS RUNNING AND THE BOX SLIPPED OUT OF MY HAND. I FEEL SAME WITH YOUR CHARACTER. OVER HERE I FEEL PEER PRESURE COMES IN.

  6. yes, it can be tough to think and act for yourself when the people around you are doing it for you, thus we live in an society where there are more followers then leaders, and some are unaware that they are indeed being led by others.

yes not ratting people out is important, but not letting people take the blame for you is more important.

  7. Book: Liar

My book is about a girl named Micah. She is 16 and she always has lied in the past but now she is trying to tell the truth. It is hard for her though because she's always lied in the past and it's easier for her to lie than tell the truth. A thing I like about my character is that she's clever even if she's just clever in lying. It's a fiction book so she's not a real character but the author is good at making it seem real. Oh and the author is Justine larbalestier.

  8. The book I'm reading is called the hobbit the character I'm talking about is Gandalf he is a old wizard that has left on a journey and is back looking for a hobbit named Bilbo, he has a proposition for him about journeying out of the area where he live so he can help him get some gold which a dragon is guarding. To me it seems like he is going to betray Bilbo after he gets the gold since he has not seen him in years and is merely using him for his burglary skills.

  9. @janat I saw some of the golden compass movie but it was very confusing because I saw this girl riding a dog sled in the middle of the north. But I think the way you describe the book it sounds better then what parts of the movie I saw. But do you mind explaining a bit more about the main character or book? Because I'd like to learn more.

  10. Same book , i dont read it outside of class
    Book : Unbeliveable

I will be talking about Ariel. Ariel is a one of the main characters. Before Ali died, Ariel was a goth. She would wear all black and was very quiet. I like that Ariel can still focus on her work and hang out with her friends. She is very pretty and is a friendly person. A dislike is that she was seeing one of her teachers, and she had a boyfriend at the time. Until 'A' and her boyfriend told the principal about it. I dislike that because she should of kept it quiet, and because of that he was fired and moved (best decicion to do).

  11. I am currently re-reading the third of thirteen books of A Series Of Unfortunate Events...The main antagonist,is a vile evil man named Olaf.As inconspicuous and wretched he may be,his cunning plans to steal the fortune from the 3 orphans continue to become more and more convoluted, and more and more thrilling to read about.

Something that MUST be noted about this character his how easy he can come up with plans but some how fail in the end,but then he is able to try again. The persistence he possesses...It is so overwhelming, but realistic. In the story,it first started with the clever idea of disguising a marriage play as a real marriage so he could steal all the money from the orphans that inherited all the fortune, then it went on to him losing the children as guardians and their snake handling uncle's brother in law or something person took the children as his adopted children. After that,Olaf comes up with the idea to use a snake to kill him,it leads them to their next guardian, which is some frightened old lady that is the 3 childrens' half wife cousin's mother or something...He comes up with another plan! To dress up as a sailor and he makes it look like he only has 1 leg to convince, even though it could be a leg thats been bent to hold behind him...

  12. @ Alyssa
Is there a specific reason why Micah lies? And why is it that she likes to lie more than tell the truth?

    ReplyDelete
  13. @ canadian leafs is your book like a murder mystery where the main character is arrested and then after that the person that killed his mother is like stalking him waiting to kill him? because it seems like that

    ReplyDelete
  14. @ gurinder is the series of unfortunate events that interesting that you re read it? and olaf seems kinda like me i can make up plans quickly but its a 50/50 chance. So how did olaf end up with the children in the first place besides that their parents died was he just chosen?

    ReplyDelete
  15. @ alyssa does your character lie because they are afraid of what might happen if she told the truth or is like a reflex and it is hard to stop

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Sharp Shooter Yes,the book is that interesting.Olaf is something like an aunt's sister's brother in law...He was the closest family member (in distance) so they chose him as the guardian.

    ReplyDelete
  17. to lie, i think is easy, doesn't take much work and you usually get something immediately for it, being honest, although noble and moral, often takes hard work and the reward comes from personal satisfaction or later on.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @pamela micah lies because she finds it easier than telling the truth. it also gets her out of getting punished for doing things. sometimes. but sometimes it gets her in more trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  19. @thomas it is also true that it is like a reflex and that is why she is trying to stop lying because she knows its not right.

    ReplyDelete
  20. sure alyssa, the book is about Lyra and so kids are being kiddnapped and all and being used because of their deaons.in the book, , everyone has deamons, and when your a kid , your deamon can shape shiift.A group of adults want that, their own older deamons to do that too and they use the kids for their evil plans and all. one lady who is apart of that , tries to take lyra into it , adn lying her to her that she'll take her up north (she wants to go because her uncle is gone missing and shes his only familly and meet polar bears-they talk) and before se falls for it, she gets an athemeter-golden compass, which can tell the truth of peoples lies and everyoen is after it-the lady too
Alyssa, i think you should watch the movie or read because this si what i know from the movie and there is alot more

    @ canadian leafs
yeah i agree, many kids are infulenced by their elders ,i think more likely then others, because their the role models and all

    ReplyDelete
  21. @janat i think i might read the book but i kind of want to watch the movie too because it might make more sense because i know the basic storyline.

  22. My book is called THE WEDNESDAY WARS.It is by GARY D. SCHMIDT.It is in the year 1967. My book is about a boy named Holling Hoodhood. He is twelve years old. He is in grade seven (like me).His new teacher hates his guts. His new teacher is called Mrs.Baker. He looking for an ally.He asked his mom if she can be his ally and tells her everything. His mom says she can't hate his guts,it is the first day of school, she does not know anything about him. Holling argues and says you do not have to know someone to hate their gutes. So he goes to his dad and asks him the same question.... Can you be my ally? and he tells him why. His dad tells him how the Bakers own a sporting emporium. He also tells him how they are looking for a new architect and is considering Hoodhood and Associates among its top three choices. Hoodhood and Associates is Holling's dad's company and Holling is going to take over it when his dad retires because he is the only boy. So he tells Holling to be at his best behavoir at school because if he does not he will get Mrs.Baker to hate him even more which will lead the other Baker family members to hate the name of Hoodhood which will lead the Baker Sporting Emporium to choose another architect which wiil drive them into bankruptcy and which will mean that there will be no Hoodhood and Associates for Holling to run later in his life. So the only other person to talk to left was his sister. his sister gave him some bad advice so he was hopeless. I think Holling is very patient because he did not ask the principal for him to switch classes which an impatient person would do by now.

  23. Book-The Summoning

in going to tell you about the main chatacter chloe.chole goes to an art school and then one day she was feeling weird so she goes to the washroom and then was going back to class when she sees a man with a burnt face and she starts to run but no one else can see him.the techers told jher to calm down but cloe didnt so she was takeb to a group home called lyle home.there she meets 4 other characters. simion derek tori and rachele(rae) they start to treat her about her problem.when she finds out that she might be there for a month or longer. When she goes to her room she finds a note and it from simion so she goes to meet him when she finds derek who ende up loosing his temper and trowing her across the room hurting her arm.

one thing i like about chole is that she stands up for her self and does not let anyone bother her.she will think about what that person said but handle it on her own unless it is a really big job.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think Mr.Cheney is right lieing is easyer.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @ Stephanie
This book sounds very interesting. What is the book title? And does chloe see things? Or can only she see the man ?

    ReplyDelete
  26. @janat in the book your reading the movie shouw how someone truyed to poision her uncle before he went on bis trip up north did he find out who tryed to poisin him why they tryed to poisin him and did lyra get caught hidding in the closet

    ReplyDelete
  27. @pamela the book sounds interesting. Would you recommend it?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Chole sounds very independent, would you describe her as a loner?

    ReplyDelete
  29. it is easier, thats why so many people lie!

    ReplyDelete
  30. @pam the book is called the summoning and if you want to read there are also 2 other books in the the series.chloe can see ghost but the thing is is that she cant tell if they are ghost or people and she can also see the man but hes a ghost which is why che ended up ay lyle house

    ReplyDelete
  31. @mrcheney i would not describe her as a loner because she will have fun with her friends and joke alot and go to parties but when it comes to something that she takes offensive she will handle it and she is also very smart so she knoew what to do and when to do it i think she may seem like that because she is still trying to fit in at lyle house.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @ canadian leafs does your characters go to jial? If so for how long? If not is he mad at his friend?

    ReplyDelete
  33. @abdullahi do you know what holling will do now that no one is really helping him? and do you know why the book is in the year 1967? is it because the people thought differently then they do now or what? I'm just wondering because it's a long time ago.

    ReplyDelete
  34. @ Abdullahi

I only reccomend it to mainly girls, I dont think guys would be interesting in this novel. I would reccomend anyone that is into mysteries, but its not only about mysteries. Its about love and other stuff.

    @ Stephanie

Is a power that she has?

    ReplyDelete
  35. @Stephanie who is lyle? I'm just wondering because you keep mentioning him but I don't really know who he is. And your book sounds like a movie with the whole she can see ghosts thing.

3 slaves that were freed on the under ground railway! and years as well

    ReplyDelete
  38. this sounds like a bad situation for the student and teacher.

    ReplyDelete
  39. @steph yup, they wanted to poison him because the master did it because from the golden compass, you can also see things that might happen, the master found out that if he goes on this trip, something really bad would happen and the trip wouldnt be good.thats why the master him, but its not he hates Lyra's uncle .and no she didnt get found, only she saved her uncle from drinking but he was upset with her for secertly being in the room , other then her uncle, no

@pamela, in stephs book, chole is a necromancer , they are people who can contact , see and talk to ghosts, and they can tak to her too , in the book, to the insitue she goes to, everyone has some special powers

yes it is like a power she has in the book it mentions that she could be a necromancer but there not sure cuz she can see and tlk to ghost but she cant raise then yet but there is a chance that later in the book.

    @alyssa

lyle is the name of the group home that chloe is staying at so she can learn about her power.you might have gotten confused they call the group home lyle because of the original owner

  43. The Book I am doing is the Hobbit by Jrr Tolkien. And the character I am analyzing is Mr.Bilbo Baggins a Hobbit, hobbits are creuters smaller than dwarves and quieter than forest eleves.

Mr Bilbo lives a quiet existence intill one day when Gandalf the Grey Wizard comes to his Hobbit hole and handpicks him for a quest at first Bilbo refuses but Gandalf has quite the demenour. So the next night the rest of the party primarily dwarves with a bunch of names come and disscuss the mission at hand.

At first the dwarves regard Bilbo as a worrysome bother but over time he starts to become more confident and saves the dwarves from many hardships intill at one point the dwarves where entirely dependent on him just as Gandalf said would happen. And what really makes this character interesting for me is the underlying theme of having confidenbce in yourself and you will acheive.

  44. Second slave name: Frederick Douglass
    -escaped September 3rd 1838
-was his second try to escape

    ReplyDelete
  45. and yeah , i agree with steph , chole isnt an loner, , and she knows how to have fun and all, but very serios, when someone is offensive to her.also she doesnt really like being an "necromancer" because she is creeped out by them and she woould rather live and "normal life" then her own

    ReplyDelete
  46. @EL Presidente
the book, your reading sounds interesting, but what is the quest that mr biblo is on??

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think people dont only lie because its easy for some lieing may give them a sense of satisfaction only lying could a sense of"ha I sure tricked them" kind of feeling.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Im reading the same book:Halo contact Harvest

And the character im going to be talking about is Staff Sergeant Avery Johnson. And the thing i like about him is that he will always take his job seriously and be tough when he needs too and he can be a gentle at other times and hes had problems as a kid when his parents died then he had too move in with his aunt then when he grew older after a mission to decease an enemy that he failed to do so,he went back to his aunts house to see her and found out that she was dead and that brought him down even more because he had no one thats all i know

    ReplyDelete
  49. @Stephanie

Yes the teacher (Ezra) moves in with his father in a different city. When he told Ariel that he was going she didnt want him to go. But then Ezra told her that its the best thing to do. So im pretty sure that she is going to.

@ JAN101, Oh so she is a necromencar, thats pretty cool. i wonder if she knows that she is?

    ReplyDelete
  50. @Jan101 the quest is to rid the northern mountains of the dragon smog who killed the family of the dwarves on the quest with Bilbo so in essence you could say they are theives but they are trying to get back what is theirs. And "SPOILER ALERT" they succed in ridding the mountains of smog and Bilbo is seen as A hero by all walks of life in the book Elves,Men, and Dwarves.

    ReplyDelete
  54. @pamala

yes she knows but it was not the group home who gave her the name it was derek when he found out the she could talk to ghost but she does not accept the name she just think that its a bit to extra.

    ReplyDelete
  55. for the movie why dont we use Harreit Tubman , as one of the charters because , she was one of the conducters, so she has an important role in the underground railroad, ran away in 1849, but came back alot of times, to help other escape, and its said she never lost a passenger

  59. I was sick today, and I finished Walkabout, but I started an even more interesting book, called "Brisingr" by Christopher Paolini. It is a fantasy book, 800 pages long, and is part of the Eragon series, also books by Paolini, and this book is the beginning to the climax of the whole 4 book story. There was a movie made 6 years ago on the first book, called Eragon. I have all the books, and I never got to read Brisingr, so its my first time, and the first two books were really complex, and I enjoyed them, There were soo many main ideas, from love to hate, to forgiveness, and I really love the series, I reccomend it to all of you guys, if you want to read them, ask me.

Ok, so I should summarize the first two books first, In the first two books, Eragon, The main Character, is a farmer boy in a land called Alageisia, wierd name, and he ventures to this mountanious area to hunt for his uncle and cousin, because he was orphaned, and he finds this blue object, and he later finds out that it is an egg, because it hatches to be a dragon. This all happens in the reign of the evil king of Alageisia, Galbatorix, and chaos was in the land. A little history explained in the books, the people that dragons hatched for were called Dragon Riders, and the king eliminated them all, being a rider himself, and he became king by force. The king felt a magical presence brush his conciousness, and he sent two Insect-like creatures, called the Razac, to search the cities and villages to find them and to capture them to swear oaths in the ancient language (some magical language that you cant lie in) to the king to forever serve him. Eragon was comprimised, and his uncle was killed, and so he fleed with his dragon, with the neighbourhood storyteller, an old man named Brom, who apparently knew a lot about the riders, and they fled. Then, Brom had trained Eragon how to fight, barehanded and with a sword, and taught him how to use magic, and they travelled through the land, to a place unknown. Then they are comprimised by an evil dark superpowerful figure, much like gurinder, known as a shade, and they were captured in a jail. They try to escape, and brom was mortally injured, they escape with the help of an unknown person, who then accompanies them, and they head to the varden, the forces fighting galbatorix to achieve peace in the land. Theres much more then that, and there will be so much text that you will be unable to read it without becoming ansy, so ill leave it there.

Brom is a mysterious character who is very secretive with everyone, and i chose him because we barely knew much about him in the story until the third book. He was a very proud of himself, as an old man, and he was very skilled at swordsmanship. But he couldnt practice magic, and I didnt know why. He had certain characteristics that made him a leader, and he would chaste Eragon a lot for his mistakes he made in his lessons. I like him because he had a very powerful character, and he reminds me of people of authority. In the book, Eragon finds out that he was his father, and a dragon rider, so that explained a lot. I disliked the fact that he had hidden his identity to Eragon, when he clearly was inflicted with pain and curiousity when he was pondering on who his father was, and his mom died when he was born. Brom dies in book one though. So that sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  60. @alyssa Evolutionists believe Hobbits were real But I personally belive Hobbits are just fictional but the books a great read nontheless.
@pamela the genre I'd say is fantasy Biblo did the mission because Gandalf the wizard picked him and Bilbo refused at first because he liked his slow quiet (and in my opinion dreary) life.

  63. @talha I read eragon its a great book and I really like the way Eragon and his dragon saphira bond. I think Brom hid his identity because he didnt want Eragon to be angry at him for leaving him with his uncle all his life. But he still looked out for him by living in the same village. The book is kind of like my book a stuggle between good and bad.

I also liked how Paolini differentiates the characters in the book, like he makes Saphira, the dragon, her own conscience, and creatively stated in the book that a dragon and their rider share the same conscience. They really are tight, they cant be separated, and they mourn when they are separated, in two incidents they have been separeted, and in book three, Roran, Eragon`s cousin soon finds Eragon, after 3 years, and it is a happy sight, because Roran powered the village to fight off the razac and their men, and they travelled to the varden, for support. That would probably be the best part of the book, when they actually meet eachother, and Roran punches Eragon, for letting his dad to die, and for ditching Roran, because Eragon had mixed feelings to show his dragon to them, in case they try to kill it

    ReplyDelete
  71. the power of the sight
its like a totem were the human finds its inner animal
but travels along side with it. n they're able to read each others thought n have great visionsz of the futre the past nd the present.

the main character in my book is Cat Peters. cat Peters has a sister who is only 8 and she has to always take care of her sister because her parents hardly have any time because they are always busy working and working all day. after getting rid of the evil fairies and there spell, sookie has been really attracted to magic and because her this attraction to magic she has been in danger now because there is something strange going on in the town and everyone is acting weird except sookie and so this mystry continues. why is sookie not acting as the same way as the others?

something i like about Cat Peters is that she is very different kind of girl you know like she is always helping people doesn't matter if that person is being nice or mean to her is is always helping people. something i don't like about her is hating her sister and helping others as if they are like her real brother or sister. Cat peters reminds me of a girl name Suzy from a book(forgot the name of the book), and she is just like Cat Peters you know she also helps other people just like Cat but Suzy always thinks about her family meaning about her siblings first before helping others but she helps other doesn't matter if they are mean or nice to her.

  82. @ Master Chief

Yes you are right. I dont know the ending but i assume the girl will be together again with her lover. That quote is very true because in this book even though people know about her affair with her teacher, she still sees him because she loves him

    ReplyDelete
  83. @ JANAT YES IT IS
and now she can only track him easly becuase she was the first wolf to have the site

    ReplyDelete
  84. See the problem is that its hard having a relationship with a teacher because some kids could suspect favor-ism and i think its not fair because you cant send someone to another school because she is having an affair with a teacher

  85. my book is called "Alanna the first adventure"the first book in The song of the lioness series

the main character is Alanna she always wanted to be a knight while her twin brother wanted to become a sorcerer so the day before they each go off to their new lives Alanna switches places places with her brother and becomes a page no one knowing she is a girl

i would describe Alanna as short tempered, fierce, and shy. She gets mad at herself for lying to her friends of her identity everyday but she still keeps it a secret, but even though she is as truthful as a disguised girl can be

    ReplyDelete
  86. @ Master Chief

That is very true. People may think that since you are having a relationship with the teacher that he/she will be giving you better grades. So then the students will get furious and tell the principal ( possibly). I styll dont think that they should of sent him to another school, if hes in love with one of his students then he should be able to see them .Also before he came to that school the girl was still seeing him.

  87. @rukis do u think that she will get caught and they will send her back or do u thnik she will finish wat she set out to do and then they will change the rulles of girls not becoming knights

  97. Title: Reading The Bones
    Author:Gina McMurchy-Barber
My book is about a girl named Peggy Henderson living in Cresent Beach British Columbia, her dad died when she was seven and she is living with her aunt Margaret and uncle Stuart while her mom is in Toronto trying to find a job.

Peggy is the caracter i chose to explain.
Peggy Henderson is 12 years old, and she is the kind of girl who is more of a tomboy type, not all girly. One thing she doesnt like is her aunt, who is always telling Peggy that she should go out and make friends, or telling her to do things that Peggy has no interest in, like singing Peggy up for a sailing class. Peggy had also found a human skull in their backyard, and the archaeologists name, that is excuvating the site, is Eddy. Peggy enjoys helping Eddy but her aunt isnt very fond on it, and thinks peggy should be doing other things other than digging around in the dirt.
In a way Peggy reminds me of myself, bcause she is a tomboy type, and she doesnt like wearing things like dresses or skirts, shes more into t-shirts and jerseys.

    author: J.Fitzgerald McCurdy
this is the 3rd book .i haven't read the books before
Miranda is my main character and she is very determined person but she can loses her confidence really quickly.she has lives with her mother but lost her father when she was small. miranda is eleven year old but has a lot of power.
this story is about a girl having power to stop a evil to take over world that is not her's. this different world is a world full of fantasy kind of species:giants, ogres, wizards there are creatures that still live after they are dead and much more.this evil creatures that wants to take over that world is the king of dead a skeleton that walks, talk does what a living thing does.to have more power, it kill creatures and feds on their hearts(i am guessing this from all the clues i got from the book).Miranda has this power from these bloodstone she has from her father.Miranda is also really adventures and upset easily when she is teased by her friends.

  102. yeah nice book bailee i only read half of that book and untill what i read so far i think that i did not excatly get to the main idea of the story and so i can't tell wether if i like the book or not. but untill what i read it was nice you know i liked it but i can't tell based on the whole book.

    ReplyDelete
  103. i like your book heli but why do you guess this type of thing from the clues you have got from the book like i don't get it you know??? and does Miranda get upset so easily is there a reason like you know when something happens that person acts kind of weird did something happened to her that she takes everything so seriously meaning gets upset easily.

    ReplyDelete
  104. yeah that sounds like a good bok baliee i might want to read it after. do you know if the aunt will try to do something to make her stop acting like that or is the aunt just going to accept that

  105. @heli
arent you aliitle confused because, if youre reading the third book, and you didnt get to read the first 2???your book sounds really interesting and are all the cretures in the world evil and they want to take over or jsut afew of them??

    ReplyDelete
  106. @heli do u think that if someone were to do somethign to get her mad she would get upset and side track from her adventure.why do u thik her father left ehr the stones and what kind of genra is it.

    ReplyDelete
  107. @ hitakshee this is the 3rd book and i haven't read the 2 books before so i don't know much about that. that's why i am trying to make sense off all the different kind of creatures. (they are really weird half of this and half of that.)
Miranda she doesn't always get upset but i think because it depends on her to save the other world maybe that's why she doesn't like jokes right now.also her friends are trying to cheers her up right now because she has a lot of responsibility on her.

    ReplyDelete
  108. yeah i was wondering that to like what stephanie said if someone were to get her mad and if get upset really easily would she side track from her adventure? ANSWER THE QUESTION!!!

What I forgot to mention is that Bilbo has to parts to his family the baggins part
Which are people like everyday hobbit who like to relax and eat
But he also has the took side of him and the tooks are
Weird to other hobbits because of their assosciation with faiths and the like. And it was the baggins side of him that refused but it was the took side in the end that won out. @Thomas I don't really understand your question because Gandalf dies not betray them.

  110. sorry to have logged in so late, had to hinnish the king poster

Im going to talk about my character rigg. since Riggs father died in the woods, the book is revealing more detail of rigg because of his independence. Rigg's Father had taught him everything because Rigg's father is all he ever had, so Rigg thinks a lot like his father when it comes to tricky situations. i just read through a part when rigg has to get to the town where Nox is (Nox is a good friend of Rigg's father). To get to that to that town, Rigg has to cross a river which ends up to to be a waterfall, so of you fall in you get swept away like a vaccume. there is no bridges, the only way to get across is by steping on the rocks that are on top of the water. As he crosses he notices a boy closer to the waterfall crossing the river. he recognized the boy because Rigg used to be friends with is older brother. The bow was really stupid, danger meant nothing to that little boy. Only a foolish person would Cross the river from that close to the falls, and rigg Knew that because his father told him. rigg had to get to him and tell him to get back of he will fall in. surely enough what happens, the boy falls in the river and falls in. furtunely Rigg grabs a hold of him just before the boy goes over the falls. unfortunetly rocks tend to get nugged by the water on the bottom of the river and hits the boy from under the water, releasing the grip on rigg sending the boy over the falls. even though the boy deserved to die, it showed that rigg is very careing for more than himself and i admire him for that.

  111. like what kind of responsibilities you know like is she the only one who is trying to save the world, because she is then do you think that she would be able to do it?? but what you said made sense since you never read the first 2 book you would not have any idea about what happened.

did miranda tell her freinds, or did they find out themselves and figured it and out and help her save the world, and why dont you jus get the other books( and 2) to know more about miranda, and how she actuallt got to knwo about the evil world and as in the first question, are all the cretures in the other world evil and want to take over??

    ReplyDelete
  115. @ Stephanie i think because she is their only child also her father didn't give her the stones but she was "called" to the other world and figures this out , that what i think. and the stones are called bloodstone but without the power they would just look like pebbles.
i was reading the next chapter and when she got upset she actually threw the stones to her enemy when she didn't get why they were chasing her.she made a big mistake...

    ReplyDelete
  116. @ Janet i hasn't found the first 2 books yet but i want to read them and i think she told her friends about the other world.and i found out that it's only the "kind of dead" that is the evil one but he has captured many of the creatures and toke them on his side.

  118. @talha In brazinger it really highlights eragon and saphiras growth as well as rorans because when I first read the book he did not seem like the type to power through legions of men and razaac and eragon seemed like a boy but he soon grows into a leader of the varden. What makes the series special to you.

    ReplyDelete
  119. @ hitakshee from what i have read she is only the one with the bloodstone and the stones are the only to stop the "king of the dead".the stones gives her power so she has the same level of power as the king , without them she would be a powerless human-being

    ReplyDelete
  120. At el presidente
Yup, they grow together, they learn from their mistakes, and I totally believe that the book is way too romanticized, maybe something bad happens once in a while, for example, Murtagh, the man who saved Eragon, Saphira, and Brom, in a battle, gets taken away, but in the Eldest, it is to be found that he is still alive, but he is on Galbatorix's side because a dragon hatched for him, and now he is evil, but doesnt want to be, he is forced to. Just from that, the book goes deep into what happens in Murtagh's past, like just 10 pages of diologue, it went into how he was forced to make decisions he didn't want to, because his father was Galbatorix's right hand, Morzan, who was in fact, more even then the dark king himself, and Murtagh has a ginormous scar that really brings memories, reminds me of all the abusive parents in the world right now. I loved the series for its ups and downs, it is a complex book, it just brings medieval stories to a whole new level, like it could be brought into modern times, and it would make sense, and there were a lot of decisions that Eragon has to make, so its like a path, the storyline. Also, he alternates between characters in the book, Diologue-wise, One time, it's a whole Chapter about Roran, the next, it's something about the leader of the Varden, Nasuada

  123. Book: (Rem World) by: Rodman Philbrick

Today iRead was nice the book I was Reading was called Rem World. What I read was... A boy named Arther was tired of being overweight. The reason he is overweight is that his father died and he is very sad, even though he lives with his mom and grandma. So he orders the REM sleep device which will help him lose weight. After reading the first side of the instructions, he falls asleep and enters REM World. Feeling ripped off, he throws the device off, but after meeting his guide Morf, a small furry creature that can change form, he realizes that he need to find the device, or else the whole world will be swallowed by an evil darkness. On his quest, he meets frog people, giants, cloud people, killer birds, and an evil demon. I think at the end of the novel will be like this... After finding the device and learning his life should not end because of a lost loved one and that imagination is important, he comes home and has lost a lot of weight. From now on, he is now called "Courage" rather than "Biscuit Butt".

  131. the tally sheet allows me to record and compare, without out it, its more time consuming and i cant look for patterns, like seeing how grade 7 did, but I can tell much improved, and certainly a new top student, and none of the big talkers will be in the top 3 lol :), and this is why some of you in team 8 you shouldn't talk about being the best next time and then not do it.

Let your blogging do the talking.

  132. but heli if she is the only one that has the stone than if the "king of the dead" see's someone else and that person does not have the stone than wouldn't that person be a powerless human being and can't do anything in front of the "king". because if the king is trying to take over the whole world and Miranda is the only one with the stone than i don't think that she would be able to save or do it all by herself. do you think that she will be able to do it?

  134. Alyssa how does lieing get her out of getting punishment you know like what does she do wrong that she gets in trouble and then have to lie to get out of trouble and get no punishment. and now why is she trying to tell the truth like did something happened to her that made her realize that telling the truth is better than telling lies.

Is your story a fantasy? And do you like reading books about magic etc. ?

    ReplyDelete
  137. @Pamela who is Ali and why does Ariel always were black and is very quit like did something happened or is she said about Ali's death. and after she was fired where did she move and what did she do? or this was the end of the book. and what do you mean by saying "she can still focus on her work" did something happened to her before Ali died or were they both in trouble and something happened and that's why she is really upset and so she wear's black and is always quit??

    ReplyDelete
  138. @ Pamela this a 3rd book so i don't know
@hitaskee Miranda also have friends and some of them are the creatures from the "other world"i have read the book and her friends help to get back the stones and defeat the "king of dead".
this book is full of surprises it gives of a suspenseful ending.

    ReplyDelete
  139. @ Hitaskshee
Oh and people her name is Aria, my bad :P

Well Ali is the best friends of Hannah, Aria, and Emily. She was killed and people dont know who the killer is. Ariel doesnt were black anymore. She use to wear black because of her pain, her parents were getting a divorce and she wasnt happy about that. Aria wasnt the one who got fired it was her teacher, because they were seeing eatchother. The teacher went to move in with his father in a different city and is teaching at a next school.

    ReplyDelete
  140. well Pamela it is not exactly a fantasy, like like reading about magic, fairies and etc.. they are okay but they are not my favorite and this book is kind of a mystery book you know it is not exactly what you think it does talk about magic and fairies but it is actually a mystery about many years old soccer team who were missing after there final game and then they all exist a fairies and when cat peter get rid of them that soccer team again in book 3 exist a witches and try to take over the town but when they see that sookie is really interested in magic than they try to get sookie in there spell and make her a witch but then cat finds out that something is wrong with sookie she tries to find out and then the mystery of the soccer team continues you know like so it is exactly a mystery book it involves fairies and magic in it so people think that the book is about magic and etc, but it is not.

    ReplyDelete
  141. oh so who does aria live with now her mom or her dad?

    ReplyDelete
  142. @ Hitakshee

Aria just moved in with her father. But she doesnt like it because it is scary.

And why do they want to make her a witch?

    ReplyDelete
  143. @hitakshee lying gets her out of punishments because she'll say she went somewhere (like running because she likes to run) but really she went to a friends house. She's trying to not lie because she knows it's wrong but it almost comes at second nature to lie so it's tough for her to tell the truth. She also lies because she likes to trick people.

    ReplyDelete
  144. and when she is lying they also believe her that she actually went running for that long because at a friends house it takes like 2 hours if are there to do your school projects or something and even though if you go to a friends house to just play then also it takes 1-2 hours and so i don't get they actually believe her.

    ReplyDelete
  145. @ pamela why is it scary to live with her father?

they didn't exactly wanted to turn her into a witch but they wanted her to kill Cat (her sister) because Cat was trying to find out the secret about the soccer team that went missing years ago,and so they did not wanted her to know anything about it because they wanted to keep it as a secret so that they can get the whole town under there control. and so they put some type of weird spell on sookie that now when ever Cat tries to do something with her she kind of acts strange like she never acted that way before and so when Cat found that there was something wrong with her little sister she got another mystery to solve but sookie wouldn't let her because of the magic spell on her. this is what i read so far now lets she can do it or not.

i think that she would be able to do it because in the last 2 books each book also had a secret the 1st book had the mystery of the missing soccer team and that mystery continued and the soccer team turned out to be fairies and were trying to make the town get under their control.

the 2nd book was about sookie so attracted to fairies and magic and so she wanted to find out what was making sookie so attracted to fairies and magic.and in those two books Cat was able to find out the secrets and solve the mystery and so i think she would be able to find this mystery and be able to solve it too.

    ReplyDelete
  146. @ Hitakshee

She thinks it is scary to live with her father because her father has a roomate and she is an artist, So Aria has to sleep in her studio, and in her studio she has very weird stuff. She is the typpe of artist to collect weird/scary stuff and use it as art. She is scared because there are paintings of spiders and bugs and the ceiling and it looks real

    ReplyDelete
  147. but she knows that it is not real right? by the way what how old is she? what kind of things does she collect for her art?

    ReplyDelete
  148. @Pamela does this book have other series too or this is just one book? and if it does have series than is this the first book if not then did you read other book(s)?

    ReplyDelete
  149. @ Hitakshee

Yes after her father tells her that it is not real, she is still scared. Aria is 16 or 17 ( i think). The girl collects like cans, bones, and has weird pictures on the wall.

This book does have other series, I think about 3 more. I have not read the other books, but i am looking foward to it.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Great conversation this morning ladies!

Yes it would be scary to sleep in a big studio, your imagination could get the best of you!

    ReplyDelete
  151. so which book are you on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd?

    ReplyDelete
  152. @ Hitakshee I am on the first book
The book i am reading right now is happenen on t.v also

    ReplyDelete
  153. in the iread period, i was continuing the Harry Potter series. And now i am in the half-blooded prince which is the sixth out of seven book. in the part i was reading, Harry was in search for a wizard with very important details of the dark lord. once they have found the house he lived in it was torn up by the death eaters, the followers of the dark lord. once in the house of the wizard the had found him disguised as a couch. so far that was what i read in the book.

    ReplyDelete
  154. @cameron what do you think will hsppen after they they get the wizard to talk do you think he will thell then the information?

did you watch the harry potter movies because if you did do you think the movies are better then the book of the book is better then the movie?

    ReplyDelete
  155. i agree with stephanie that the movies are better than the books because you can understand the movies better than you understand the book because you can actually see what's going on and how do all the characters look because in the book you have to visualize the character while in the movie you can't just see them. so i think that the movies are better than the books.

reading books help you improve you reading and writing skills by visualizing, making connections, predictions and much more. so i mean to say books are good to but the people who can not really understand than i think that movie is good for them too. meaning i like both books and movies.

    ReplyDelete
  156. @hitakshee they do believe her because she likes to run and she runs long and far. And that's just an example of a lie. In the beginning of grade 9 she lied for a few days that she was a boy but then someone figured out she was a liar and then people didn't talk to her and called her a freak. That could be another reason why she wants to tell the truth more often because people are calling her a freak and she's tired if that.

    ReplyDelete
  157. @hitakshee I like books better because it's like a movie in your head and some movies if they're based on a book omit stuff that were in the book that were actually good parts of the book. I also think movies are too long which is why I prefer books.

    ReplyDelete
  158. @Alyssa doesn't she live with her parents and if she does does her parents also believe her when she is did something wrong and she lies to them. and if everyone calls her a freak then does that mean that she does not have any friends? and why did she lies to everyone that she is a boy like what was the point of saying that you know is there something wrong to tell people that you are a girl? and how did that person figured out that she was a girl not a boy?

    ReplyDelete
  159. @Alyssa movies could be sometimes long but i think that once you start the movie and depends if it is interesting or not but i know if it is interesting then once you start the movie you don't pause or stop the movie until it is over or finished you know like you are so attracted to it that you just won't want to stop and you can finish watching the movie in one or two days you know and in book you read it for like maybe three or four days it depends if the book is long or not and how much you are interested in that book like if you are really interested then you are going to finish it in one or two days.

1 thing i agree with is that some parts you read in the books are not exactly the same in the movies you know so the movie is not exactly the same as books. but i like both books and movies.

    ReplyDelete
  160. @hitakshee ok so you asked many questions and I will try to answer all of them. She does live with her parents and her parents do believe her when she lies because her lies can be very convincing (like most lies). She doesn't really have any friends. She is very isolated from people because she constatly lies and people don't like that. She has a friend named Tayshawn but I'm not sure if they still talk or not. She also used to have a boyfriend named Zach but he died and people are saying she killed him (which is another reason why people are not talking to her) when she really didn't. She said she was a boy because her teacher called her mr micah and she just went along with it pretending that she was a boy. She also liked being a "boy" because the guys she hung out with didn't treat her all fragile-like. She was found out when she laughed and a girl named Sarah walked past and heard her laugh and said that she wasn't a boy because boys don't laugh like that. I hope I answered all your questions.

    ReplyDelete
  161. @hitakshee I agree that movies can interesting but I like books better because its like a movie in your head so it can look and sound anyway you want.

    ReplyDelete
  162. well i like both movies and books i can't really tell that movies are better than books because some part you read in book are not exactly tha same in the movie. so i like bothe movies and books.

  163. @hitakshee I think that they are both really good because when you are reading the book you can imagin what is happening in the book, but in the movie you can see what is happening but they add extra detail to it to make the audience like and witgh special effects to make it very realstic.

  164. Yeah i agree with steph because some times both the movie and book are pretty good, but the book always has more detail and the movie just has important parts, so it wont bore people and it isnt too long and also in the book, you have to do more thinking because, you think of what the person looks like or what there wearing, in the movie, you just see it and dont really think about it as much

  165. i like books too i never said that movies are better than books!!!! i also say that some parts you read in the books are not exactly the same in the movies because movies add extra details in
them (i said this about 3 time already).

  167. Alyssa actually i did not meant to say that because of your opinoin but Stephanie and Janat's too you know so actually i said that because i was like really fustrated from saying that 3 times and then still they kept on asking the same thing so i was actually not only answering the answer to your question but to Stephanie and Janat's too.(not exactly questions but opinion.
