How would you rate the ending or effectiveness of the novel? We know there is so much more to the story after the first tower collapses but the story ends when they are reunited at the base of the Tower. Do you think this is a good way to end the novel?
it was good but i thought it was going to be better, because the ending was very obvious and everyone was expecting what is going to happen and will found his father, the book was leading up to be a very intreging ending and i am sure the auther could have done something to wow the readers but over all u really did enjoy the book
ReplyDeleteThe ending was very effective, the author made us think what is going to happen next, so eric walters made it very suspensful, and the ending was great, john and will found eachother and saved ting on the way to their journy down the twin towers stairs.
ReplyDeleteThe ending was very visual. So many people were dying, that some couldn't even be recognized.I think that having the story end as a romanticized (Will's Dad and Ting being alive)was a good way to end the story. Not because there needs to be a happy ending in the story to entertain the reader, but because so many people were dying, people prayed and hoped their loved ones might not make it,but there was hope, and Will's father survived.
ReplyDeletei think that the end was a good one and id give the novel a 5 of 5.i dont think it mattered where Eric Walters finished it because he explained it in detail
ReplyDeletei don't think that the endind was a good way of ending we all fall down, maybe if will's mom had connected in the story then it would have been better.and i am not saying the ending was really bad it was good
ReplyDeleteI think that if i had to rate the ending of the book I would give it 3 out of 5 stars. I say this because the ending of the book was nice because Will was reunited with his father. But I think something should've happened after that like them getting home and reuniting with their Mother because they were always trying to call her and she was probably worried sick so if at the end of the book they had come home to see her it would be a good ending.
ReplyDeleteI would rate the Novel a 5star because it made me feel sad and Eric Walters made it seem like you were right there climbing the stairs with Will and his father.I have to admit it made me really sad because you would feel like it was youre brother or youre Father that died in the attack and its harder on some families because you wouldnt even get to see there face because there body was destroyed
ReplyDeletei think it wasnt really a good ending because it made you think like...omg..the book is not done is there more to this like where is the ending like a good one that makes you imagine, like will their lives change forever? or will it stay the same, for example if i was Will and i came to school after the towers falling then someone asked me if my week was good,i would just say ohh nothing really just got caught in a burning tower that was gonig to collapse. So personaly i think the ending should of been better.Like it should of went like almost a few years passing and they are telling their family the story.
ReplyDelete@guringer it's that what you were expecting?
ReplyDeletewill, john and ting being alive it was perdictable this was goign to happen
all story end with a happy ending don't you want somthing to surprize you in the book?to make the book special to remmember.
i would rate the end of the novel 5/5 because the ending was very effective.it gave alot of info from waht really happened and at the end they gave it that extre bit that when your finished reading it you still can remember what happened.
ReplyDeleteit was an okay ending.. i was expecting when they reunited something worst would happen, but they just leave. but the book was amazing the ending could of used some work to make it just a bit more intreging after they met again.
ReplyDeleteI would rate this novel 5 stars because i think that this novel gave a very good idea of what might have happened when the world trade center got attacked. I think that the ending was effective because you thought that everything was okay in the end but when the north tower collapsed Will thought that his dad died, and it was kind of sad too, but i think blowing the whistle to find his dad had a big impact because it showed that Will still had hope for his dad to live. I think in the ending they should have called their mom and see how her reaction would have been.
ReplyDeleteI would rate this book 5/5 because it was very effective and very suspensful and it made you want to read more. the incident brought will and hif father and closer and i dont any of them would have ever forgot.it made you want to think what happens next and how will it end, like in the ending , Will kept whislting hoping his father would come and the police thing havent thought so but he had so the ending was great
ReplyDelete@heli i do agree that the ending could have been better and it probably would be much better if will and jahn connect with wills mom what would make the book a whole lot better because the audience doesnt expect it
ReplyDeletethe effectiveness of the book i would rate it a 5 star book since it was telling what was happening in the two towers from the perspective of the people in side them. It gets very suspensful on what is going to happen next, but the ending was great but was cliche as i said in a previous post because they survive that was a romanticied ending. But still is effective the only problem is that John Fuller came out with ting still on his back walking throught the debrise all heroic like and appearing out of the somke. I have seen or read many things that have the same thing as that to know that it isn't that effective to me that much, if something feel down and exploded that would be to predictible.
ReplyDelete@Gurinder the ending was a bit romanticized because the builiding like fell on top of them or something like that and they both got out alive. Very happy but not very realistic in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteIt is Romanticized for John Will and Ting but not for every other character and certainly not for James father. he is dead without a dramatic death scene, just gone around the corner of the stairs. Very sad how unprepared we are for death and how unexpectedly it can come.
ReplyDeleteAre the twin towers symbolic ?
ReplyDeleteSo it wasn't romanticized for the rest of the people in the towers but why was it for the main characters? It was a realistic book and in real life nothing is perfect. I know it was a nice ending for the three of them to survive but it was just a bit romanticized for them when everyone else was dying.
ReplyDelete@Talwinder what do you mean when you say are the Twin Towers symbolic? Are they symbolic of what?
ReplyDeleteI think it was romanticized for the main characters because we know of the pain and destruction cause by 9/11 and killing them would have not enhanced that knowledge. But as you will discover there is symbolic meaning for them surviving!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete@Vanessa the very fact that you are thinking after the book is finished is what makes the book an effective and in my opinion a great one. The athuor wants you to think after the book is finished would you prefer if the book ended something like this
ReplyDelete" will and john survived their encounter and then moved away with james's family to new jersey to leave the bad memories behind."
If the book were to end with a definite ending in most cases you would not think about the book afterards.
great point
ReplyDelete@Alyssa i was acting someone, are the twin tower symbolic?
ReplyDelete@talwinder i dont think the twin towers are symbolic, because what would they be symbolic of...
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice ending for the book to have all of them survive but I think something that would have made the ending better would have been for them to have called their mother. They were trying to call her throughout the book and I think ending with them being able to reach her and tell her that they're okay would have made the ending even better.
ReplyDelete@talwinder the twin towers might be symbolic because america never got atacked on there own soil until the twin towers so i might be symblic and i depends how u look at it
ReplyDeleteFor those of you that do not know John and Will are real names of port authority firefighters that survived the collapse of the twin towers.
ReplyDeleteVery symbolic. The symbol of wealth and prestige. The other targets during 9/11 were more strategic but the twin towers was to crush the souls of the public.
ReplyDeletecough cough Presidente dont tell too much
@ talwinder and alyssa i think the twin towers were symbolic because any building can collapse and usually it is by accident, like Will said who would do such a thing on purpose they used to twintowers because it collapsed on purpose because terrorists hit it on purpose and its symbolic that all those fire fighters etc. were climbing up the tower to save those victims and never really made it
ReplyDelete@ El zak stop ruining things for them .. lol
ReplyDelete@Mr Cheney i agree with with your symbolicy, wealth and prestige.
@Adam i agree with you aswell, the figher fighters are symbolic of the towers.
I was Kind of predicting that John was going to still be in the tower when it colapsed, and he would have told Will and Ting to get out, because in the book John was saying how he would die for Will and everything. But the ending was romanticized, it would have been more symbolic if John had risked his life for Will and Ting
