Hello Team,
Please post a brief paragraph describing what it is you read in class this morning.
I want to establish a more consistent reading block for you. Time to just sit back and enjoy a book to read. We spend so much time teaching you "how" to read but then spend no time just reading.
as well once you have finished that please select three words from what you read today and add them to your word wall book but also to this post. (3 new or interesting words and their definition)
The book I am reading is The thirty nine clues the ninth installment. The book is about an ancient familly called the cahills who descendants populate all walks of history from polliticians to great artists, but the family breaks in to branches and the secret to their power is lost so now the descendants must go on a clue hunt around the world to find the secret to the cahill power.

My book started off when Chole ( the main character) is late for school and ends up being with an really weird partner who doesnt really talk or say much and what they have to do is an mouth-to-mouth resue practice thingy.well everyone is making fun of that and later when shes going home she hears about how her partners brother is coming back from jail after 8 years and she never knew ever since she came to East Hastings.
what up kidsz!?!?,

one day one of his "former agent people" came to get on a secrect mission to do something to this chinese dude who broke into the tennis satdium last night with out leaving a trace and even the cops and their hounds couldn't find anything or pick up a sent. But Alexfind him and bust his a**!
then a week later he goes on vacation with this girl and her familly; when the guy come back and they send him to an island in cuba named:CAYO ESQUELETO spanish for skeleton island.
The book that i am reading is 39 clues book 10 into the guantlet by Margaret Peterson Haddix. The two main characters Amy and Dan were trying to figure out what the clue they recently got meant, followed by other people who are in the hunt ike Jhona and Ian who aren't sure if it is really worth it. while Ian does not trust his mom after all that had happened since it turns out that the reward seems to be something that allows them to have some sort of power allowing them to have control.
ReplyDeleteThe book I read this morning was AMULET it is about a girl named emily that is trying to save the world from the elf king she and her friends are trying to find a airship so they can find the lost city of cielis to ask the gurdians to help them it is thier last hope.
ReplyDeleteDuring the period of time we had to read,I read this a seemingly uninteresting graphic novel named ''Bone''.The name threw me off, after reading the first few chapters I was aware of what the plot was and the characters. It is about 3 cousins that have been lost in a desert and they need to return to the town they were in named bone ville.Oddly enough, they look like bones, too. The book seems slow so far,and it is yet to unravel the whole storyline.I am eager to disocer what events take place at the end of the graphic novel.
ReplyDeleteSome interesting words I found were gully, patsy and carcass.Gully is like a ditch. It's a valley/ravine that was worn away by running water and then turned into a drainage way.
Patsy is someone who is easily decieved by facades,or cheated.Almost gullible.Carcass sounds like an unpleasant word, because it is.It means an animal's dead animal. In bone, carcass is used when two villains are screaming at eachother and yelling because they are bickering over an immature comment that one made to the other.

I am reading an interesting book called "Walkabout" by Eric Brown. It is about a girl named Suzie, who is an aboriginal native to Australia and she is living in the time when Australia had limited access to the internet. So she had gained access to the internet because she is on the national under-16 soccer team for Australia, so She bought a computer with motion sensor technology, and she joined this online 3D world in which envisions the whole world in codes that you can visit, for entertainment or educational purposes. She had gained access for the sake of learning about a certain nation's history for an essay, but it goes beyond that later in the book. She goes to India and learns that Racism is at large there because she goes back in time online when the British ruled India.

She had pointed it out to her uncle and aunt and when taking a better look at it they discoverd it was a human skull. They called the police soon after finding it, the police came and examined the skull. The skull was said to be the remains of someone who had lived and died there 1500-5000 years before.

I am reading a private detective novel from the 1950's called "I Jury" by the legendary Mickey Spillane.
ReplyDeleteIts a realistic and raw look at the seedy underworld of New York city. And Mike Hammer the rough, tough, and sharp tongued PI takes nothing for granted. He tends to be a bigger thug then the bad guys. Using punches and threats to obtain the truth and bring justice. He is an old school vigilante.
By todays standards it is mild and tame but in 1950 it was cutting edge and pushing the border of acceptability.
very telling how times and morals have changed over even a short period of time.
