Monday Dec 13

Hello and good morning Team 87

I am actually here today but at a meeting this morning about TCI.  I look forward to getting back to class this afternoon and getting back in the action.  The time away has felt like my universe is just a bit out of alignment.

Here is a link for a 3 part video on the history of Slaves in the United States.  The link is only for part 1 so please find the other 2 parts and watch as well.

Then comment on the content of the video (any thing: interesting, new, shocking, usable in our movie?

  2. We had made very excellent progress, we have 227 food items, some people are not bringing them no more even contributed. And we have $220 for the diapers.

  3. We could make a scene where there is a slave auction and we could label one of the portables with a sign that says "Slave Auction", or something like that.

  5. There could be a scene where we compare slavery back in the day to slavery and how it is still going on in some parts of the world today.

  6. i saw something that shocked me. it was a picture of an auction store and the sign said auction and negro sales. that was pretty shocking because it was a store that sold slaves;but slaves are real people and they were selling them. that seems so wrong to sell people.

  7. @vannessa you could just bring in an extra fiver instead of the cans.

  8. But it is better to bring food cans aswell.

  9. we should stop talking about our food drive online because ppl from other classes know about this link and our food drive because it.

  12. the slaves could wear brown and black clothes and we could rip up construction paer aND glue it on so the clothes loook old and we could make a portable look like a safe house with a candle or a blanket showing

  13. I agree with alyssa that the video was shocking because you wouldnt think that those things will happen ever in life.

  14. the slaves were treated as animals not as humans and they are humans but other in usa thought they were different because of their skin colour

maybe we can have a scence where we can show people treated like that.do we agree we should have main charaters or maybe a fmaily or a group of non realated people

  15. maybe we could have a scene where some slaves are coming off a ship and being sold to masters. then we could focus in on one family and the hard labour they were forced to do but then they escape using the underground railroad.

    ReplyDelete
  16. And maybe we could use a patatoe bag for the slaves clothing.

    ReplyDelete
  17. maybe in the video there can be black people in cages and then white people in suits can start looking at them and check which one will the buy

  18. my mom wont allow me to bring anymore iteams or give me money so thats my big issue.

  19. i brought in 30 items, instead of 20 items and $10 .the good thing is that we are proggressing and catching up . also i got a response to my letter, Eric Walters ays hes not really a blogging type of person

  20. Yeah same he says he doesnt have the time.

  21. i brought in my 20 items today.soo far were making great progress.we have over 200 items and overt 200$.at this rate will pass the first place class by tommorow.

for our movie a great idea would be to show what happned to the slaves and how they were changed to one another.this way we can show how the slaves were treated and how different things are today.

  22. they treated the slaves worse then animals. they were forced to do stuff no one else would do. maybe we could have a scene at the beaumonde park in tall grass and pretend that they are farming cotton.

    ReplyDelete
  23. yea but i have a question , u know for the movie will the picture be like black and white or colourful???

    ReplyDelete
  24. the slaves were not allowed to read or write but maybe we could have one who can but has to hide it from everyone, even their family.

  25. alyssa how are we going to do that when it's freezing outside maybe we could paint a scence one a large paper then do it it's goign to take a long time

    ReplyDelete
  26. @heli just because its cold outside doesn't mean we can't film it. the slaves had to work in all types of weather. it would almost add to the movie because it would show how hard it was for slaves to work. and its just an idea. we don't even have to do the scene.

    ReplyDelete
  27. i think we should film outside but we could also turn the classroom into a safe house or a slave's cabin

  28. my friend in Ms.Merraro's class said their almost done with their 3rd sheeet

  29. i dont think this is a problem b/c with what people bring in tommorow and the money i think we can pass it.plus i cheaked there totla thats outside of there class and there only on there 2nd sheet and most likely they colour in there total everyday soooooooo they can be in the lead.

  30. we could make a horse and carriage using card board or we could buy guns from dollarama to use as hunting tools for the slave owners
