ReplyDeleteI think that the president was not prepared for something like this to happen. I think that they did not actually do tests to see if it was safe enough to take a plane crash. I think that if they were to do tests, the twin towers would still be there.
ReplyDeleteThe world trade center was built by architect Minoru Yamasaki the world trade center was not only the twin towers the world trade center was a collection of building ( a compelx) and was supposed to be able to combat the impact of a plane however none believed someone would intenionally fly a plane into the building.

@pamela they do tests for all major buildings to see if it could stay up through hurricanes and tornados no one does tests to see if it could survive a plane crash because it is unrealistic everyone just assumed it could take the blow because it was so huge

ReplyDeletethe towers were 110 storeies tall and had facades sheathed ia aluminum alloy. it also had small windows to make the occupants feel secure. the towers used high strength, load bearing perimeter steel columns placed closely together to form a strong rigid wall supporting virtually all loads such as wing loads. lots of concrete, trusses and steel were used to make the building safer and stronger. this construction gave people the assumption that it could handle a plane crash.
ReplyDeleteThe reason they tought that the World Trade Center could withstand a plane attack is beacuse they had a new advanced structural system,had alot of new and unusual features including a composite floor system, using open-web bar joist elements,the use of wind tunnel testing to estimate lateral wind loads in the design, post-impact condition of the fireproofing on the floor systems and the quality of the steel they used to built it.
ReplyDeletethe atack took place on sept.11.2001 now when the towers were bombed and at the time president bush was in a school with little children in a different state. he got the through one of his advisers{i think}he was in the middle of the little childrens english class.when he heard the news he was mad and was calm till the class was over. he made a speech after the class then he was very angry and was thinking WAR!! at the time.he also couldnt come home because the taliban also blew up the pentagon.he refused to stay so they let him come home and they told him that they tried to bomb the white house. when this all happend he didnt think forgive and forget he was thinking about WAR for america so he was decidingto send the troops tp WAR to possibly get back at the talibans and also fight for "operation free iraq".

ReplyDelete@ Adam, they cant just say that a building is safe because it is big. Eevn though a building is big, it can still crash and fall down like it did in the 9/11. So in my opinion, I dont think that they did any tests.

ReplyDeletein one of the informational sites it shows the way the towers were hit but it also shows only one side was hit and and some how it cut the other side as well and then it shows that the building that was hit was built with a floor that that was a fire zone and its odd the way the plane hit exactly on that floor because if it had hit some where else on the building the building still could have been saved and it hit exactly right on that floor how could a terrorist know about the fire zone?

The building was planned and constructed to handle a plane impact. However over time the size and strength of planes was far greater then when the plans were made. Thus the intense heat was something builders had not anticipated from the blast of the enormous planes.

ReplyDeletethe towers got hit at 9:20-9:25 ish aroud there and it got hit again around 2:30 ish but when i watched it the tower was hit 3 times. when the explotion happened 2 more times the fire burning all the bodies making it look so sad and really shocking those talibans must really hate to do something that would risk innocent peoples lives. what if the victims had family waiting for them to come home. it was all bodies burned to little bits of dust and ashes and what evet the black smoke was it was bodies burned and in ashes and fall ashes from the towers. this is really something that the taliban had good aim on a good spot yet a famous spot they choose the bomb but in my defence the taliban made that exact spot more popular not in amazment more like historic and a killer moment to go down in american history.
