  1. The main idea of the book to me is : Camaraderie (About Davids and Sean Freind ship building up)Because at start david and sean got into a fist fight, at the end of the book they went to davids wheechair basketball game and david game him a picture of himself for him to cherish etc. So i think the main idea of the book is Camaraderie

  2. i think the main idea of this book was to not judge a book by its cover ... sean didnt judge david by his wheelchair and now there like best friends !

  3. I think the main idea of rebound is that it is possible to change your path of where you are going and what you can achieve. In the book,David started as a basketball player, and then had an accident and became ''disabled''.He kept taking risks and sucking people with him like a black hole, into danger.I thought the inevitable would be death, that he would succumb to self destruction but he was able to change his path. How close he was to killing himself,to end it all,but he overcame it.At the end of the book he was back like he was before taking risks, edgy and happy, but still determined to finding a ''cure''.David changed his path of depression into the path of optimism and hope.It is still ''blind faith'' but it's healthy to keep optimistic but still be realistic.

  4. I think that the main idea of "Rebound" is not to judge someone just by their appearance. In this case Sean thought differently about David because he was in a wheelchair. But when he got to know David more he thought of him differently.

  5. The main idea of rebound is to personally strive for equaility in all aspects of life like a wheel chair but the wheel chair in this case is symbolic of anything from a mental, physical,or emotional, 'disability" and how we should not subconsiously put our selfs on top of others ever

  6. the main idea of Rebound to me was freindship, becausev of how Sean and David had practicly hated each other at the begining of the book, and as they learned each others characters better, they became closer. Throughout the book thier frendship grew, and so did there characters but over all i think the main idea of the book is friendship.

  7. I agree with talwinder, that the main idea is about companionship because most of the book is about sean and david and how their working together on their problems and somehow they always work their problems out, and in the end it payed off because they became very good friends and david became more open to sean about his problems because of what happened at the gorge.

  8. @Samii, sean didn't judge david by his wheelchair, but did sean judge david by his character? explain why or why not.

  9. the main idea of the book rebound is you should treat everyone with equality no matter how diffrent they are physiclly, mentaly, emotionly. The book rebound was useing the "wheelchair" as something symbolic to represent how some people treat others, just because they are diffrent ether physilly, mentaly, emotionly, race or colour of their skin.

  10. @Gurinder , You don't have the right to call david Disabled, who are we to call him disabled?

  11. I believe that the main idea of the book is that you should cherish life and keep your ties with all those you care about.I thought this because there were very brief hints in which David was to commit suicide, but instead, he didnt. This could be because he reviewed his case with all those he care about, including Sean, and at the end of the book, he showed that their friendship was more then just going around places together and hanging out, he made a self portrait, which he would never do in the early stages of the book. This shows his attitude towards Sean and then therefore, if he remembered this, or if anyone recalls this, they could not be sane to commit suicide if you have something to live for(friendship).

  12. @ PamelaaSuccessful the wheelchair is symbolic. if david wasnt in a wheelchair then do you think the same thing would have happened?

    ReplyDelete
  13. @ talwinder gurinder had quotation marks around the word "disabled" it didn't mean he is saying david is disabled but just couldn't think of a better word

    ReplyDelete
  14. @ talwinder,
note that Ultimate Dragovian put "disabled" in quotes, meaning that it is so-called, disabled, noted in the book

    ReplyDelete
  15. I agree with cripple (Taha) because he does show his attitude towards sean and the commiting sucide i think he changed his mind when sean came and said don't do it .. he did it for the friendship

    ReplyDelete
  16. the main idea is that just that friends care for one another and don't just forget about them.and that any kind of person such as a persons skin colour or disabilities are equal.the reason i think that is my main idea is because how the wheelchair is symbolic to say that the person is different in someway, and how sean and david are friends is how the people of any kind can be friends

    ReplyDelete
  17. @talwinder ,well sean did kind of judge david by his character because of how he thought he was tough even though he wasnt all tough... and he didnt judge david by his wheelchair.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yeah but cripple He did put it in qoutation marks but still .. we cant a person disable if we aren't in his shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I agree with cripple egyption guy (taha) because it seemed like the book was mostly about david walking or david committing sucide but in the end nobody thought that it would be about david and seans companianship and it showed how strong their friendship got even when they hated eachother when they met eachother, and now their very good friends.

  20. at nida ,
If David was not in a wheelchair i think that Sean would of looked at him as a normal kid that is the same as Sean.

    ReplyDelete
  21. the main idea is that you treat the person how you wanted to be treated. when david and sean first met they sean said to david your in wheel chair and david said you didnt see snyone in a wheel chair before sean tried to give david symphty that made david really mad and started the fight. When sean understood that david deosnt want to be treated like a special person or a hadicaped person they became friends.

    ReplyDelete
  22. the main idea of the story is you shouldnt judge someone by the way they act but by how they are after you get to understand them

    ReplyDelete
  23. @ crippled egyptian pharoah if david and sean hadn't become friends because of the hints david was going to suicide would they still had become friends if so how diffrent?

    ReplyDelete
  24. i think the main idea of Rebound friendship. i think so because when they were at the gorge and before david was crying and sean said he knew how it felt and david didn't believe him. then sean said that he didn't know how it felt to be in a wheelchair but he knew about friendships and how friends help friends like he was helping david get through that tough time. that is why i think the main idea is friendship.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @talwinder, if you think that "disable" isnt a appropriate word what word would you use for it !!! ?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I agree with cameron because they did care about eachother, in the inside and outside.

    ReplyDelete
  27. i agree with taha because its true Davids character did show that he had the thought of trying to commit suicied, but the things or people he cherished meant more to him then to just throw his lfe away

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think the main idea of the book is you dont know it untill you tried it
sean never knew what it was like to be friends to a handicap person and i bet no one ever thaught that being friends with a person in a wheelchair would be like this you really have to become good friends to understand david just like sean did

    ReplyDelete
  29. so pamela, if david wasnt in a wheelchair then sean would have saw him as just a regular kid and would have let him pass by, instead of talking to eachother and becoming friends?

    ReplyDelete
  30. turkish:d give exzamples why should you not judge someone the way they act

    ReplyDelete
  31. @pamela i agree if david wasnt in a wheel chair their friendship probally wouldnt even have come to be so the main idea could also be you could find friends in the most unlikely of places

    ReplyDelete
  32. @ Gurinder
Is there a better word you can call David exept for "disabled" ?

    ReplyDelete
  33. @ canadian mapleleafs david and sean are just symbolic when they say main idea they mean beyond the book and character as in what do they represent so tell me what you think the main idea is?

    ReplyDelete
  34. i agree with u alyassa but i dont think if it wast for david actually being in a wheel chair , sean and david wouldnt have ever been freinds , because remeber how they actually became freinds

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think the main idea of rebound is that it is possible to change your way of your life where you are going and what you can achieve.

    ReplyDelete
  36. i think the main idea is that if your going through struggles dont give up keep trying and get someone to encourage you so you can make the right decissions than just settling with a big burdon on your back and it keeps coming back to hauant you it is good to tell what happend so the problem would be fixed insted of feeling like you want to commit sucide and have all those things bottles up and no one would know why you died or why you killed yourself. so it was a good the main i dea is if you have something that is eating you up inside then you kill yourself but it is better to tell all your problems so someone can help you with it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. i think that the main idea of rebound is not to judge people with their should treat everyone with equality it doesn't matter how diffrent they are.like sharpshooter1948 said.i think that because if sean did judge david at first then he won't have hanged out with david and they would have not became firends.

    ReplyDelete
  38. you could say challenged instead of disabled

    ReplyDelete
  39. @ Sharpshooter
I quote Mr cheney on this-
"Having Equality, doesnt mean that you have fairness"- this means that equality does not always mean that everything is fair. for example, If a person who was very studious, and if he/she scored a high mark on a test if he/she worked very hard on studying, and in contrast there is also a slacker in this person's class, and he also scores a very high mark, equivalent to the person who was very studious, and there were prizes for the top two, and if they were the top two, then therefore the person that actually studied, should deserve more, then the slacker, because he actually strived for the mark, instead of slacking and "guessing" on the test. You said that Everyone is equal no matter how they look, or if they're disabled, or how they feel, and that is true. But does that mean that they deserve the same thing? what if a "disabled" person was very intelligent, and if a normal person was "dumb", and if a teacher thought of everyone as equals, then the teacher would have to give everyone the same marks, and therefore the "Dumb" person would get the same marks as the "disabled" person. Is this what your trying to imply?

  40. @El presidente if david wasnt in a wheel chair there wouldnt even be a book :p

    ReplyDelete
  41. @heli and sharpshooter Sean and David's friendship helped David change his path, from suicide to optimism,so maybe there are multiple meanings to the story.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think that the main idea of this story is caring and friendship, because Sean cared for David and looked after him. Sean didnt judge DAvid by his wheel chair which shows friendship and what a real friend would be like.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think that the main idea is that you shouldnt feel sorry for people that are disabled because if they dont feel sorry for themselves you shouldnt sorry for them because it kind offensive for example when the teacher would talk slow just because his legs are dead his brain isnt affected and if someone would help me when i dont ask i feel stupid

    ReplyDelete
  44. i think the main idea is to treat everyone the way you want to be treated so if they are disable treat them like you want to be treated. don't think that just because they are short they can't play basketball or just besause they can't walk they can't do things for themselfs like open a door or go roller skating. i also think that the books main idea is to think that what you see is real like all people think that david was some tought guy who did not care but david is a guy who has a soft spot.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yes, El Presidente i agree with you could call it challenged

    ReplyDelete
  46. @ pharoah you have to be balanced both fair and equal no ones perfect but we try our best to do whats right

    ReplyDelete
  47. @elpresidente i agree with what you said that the main idea could be you can find friends in the most unlikely places because sean and david didn't seem like friends at the beginning of the book. sean didn't even want to see david in the beginning because david just beat him up but got sean in trouble. but in the end of the book sean was preventing david from committing suicide. they looked past each other's differnces and past and ended up friends. so you can find friends in the most unlikely places.

    ReplyDelete
  48. @ cameron if the main idea of the book is about being friends no matter how diffrent they are then why do people david(symbolicly) still treated him diffrently?

    ReplyDelete
  49. gurinder david isnt different he is not an alien he's a normal person he just cant walk many people are in wheechair play all kind of sports like the parolympics were all people who are in wheelchairs play they are way better then us in what they do.

    ReplyDelete
  50. What if the main idea of Rebound is that people are different, and they just have a different way of doing things. For David, his difference is legs that dont work, but he uses a wheelchair to overcome small differences that are more like obstacles. All those differences can lead to misery, but David overcame it even when he was about to die.Rebound is supposed to be read to teach us about our lives. So when David is treated differently,it is because that happens in this world.

    ReplyDelete
  51. @ sharpshooter beacuse thats reality however ugly it may be so personally we have to do our best to change that

    ReplyDelete
  52. There are many different main ideas, all you guys have identified many of them. The important ones are the ones that resonate with you the reader. The book is about what you believe it is about. That is the only way you will learn the message.

True Friendships, Not being judgmental, are just the beginning

also to think about perseverance (David fights through his challenges)

the issue of labelling "disabled" is an issue...to put it in quotations marks is to understand that who are we to call anyone disabled. Labelling people tends to lend itself to being judgmental (thus judging a book by its cover).

    ReplyDelete
  53. i agree with El Presidente challenge would be a better word to use then "diabled"

    ReplyDelete
  54. @ Canadian Leafs
I concur, though People also play wheelchair basketball even though there perfectly fine.

    ReplyDelete
  55. @ stephanie i agree with you but are people really "disabled" what would you consider a "disabled" person also do some people really treat others the sameway they want to be treated?

    ReplyDelete
  56. @canadian leafs David isn't an alien, and he is different.People treat David differently.People like Mr.MCully are unaware of giving special treatments, and you could relate that to people in the real world that try to be nice to people just because they pity them, when they are the people who should be pitied.

    ReplyDelete
  57. thats what i am trying to say in this world we treat people who are in wheelchair differrntly which makes those people mad which allows suicide they make people feel guests in their own home.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Sharpshooter, it is because that people feel pity for him and that shows they treat him differently

    ReplyDelete
  59. @master chief what you said was a bit confusing but i don't agree that the main idea is to not take pity on people who are "disabled" because yes david was annoyed by that but it was not the main idea. it should just be learned throughout the book.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ya I agree with sharpshooter1948 because friends will always become friend no matter how different they are and what they do.

    ReplyDelete
  61. @ el presidente everything happens for a reason just like how everyone gets treated in this world

    ReplyDelete
  62. @ cameron why do people pitty other what would you say is the reason?

    ReplyDelete
  63. @ jan101 yes change reality there for change the way people treat others in the world we live in today we cant change the way others act but we can educate them to act better

    ReplyDelete
  64. it shows that the people in real life feel sorry for the disabled sharpshooter

    ReplyDelete
  65. sean and david's friendship did help david change his decision but maybe it wasn't just friendship that help.maybe you are right there are multple meaning it depends on what you think.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ya master chief you never know a challenged person could be bad unless you know their background

    ReplyDelete
  67. @benG i agree everything does happen for a reason but it doesnt mean its unchangable when women couldnt vote that happened for a reason but it got changed so what im trying to say is that we cant just execpt that it happens because it happens we gotta change soemthing that deosnt make sense

    ReplyDelete
  68. @ cameron just how are people "disabled" and they feel sorry for him is it because they are diffrent?

    ReplyDelete
  69. @canadian leafs If a person is treated different, like David, doesn't it mean he is different? Because he doesn't use a certain method to move, doesn't that mean he does things differently, making him different?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Talwinder i agree with u because we really dont have the right to say that David is disabled.
David isnt disabled as long as he deosnt think that he is.
sure he cant do everthning he imagines to do but still he is capable of doing more than we can expect he can.

    ReplyDelete
  71. the reason is what happened to make the disabled disabled sharpshooter and that is why they show pitty

    ReplyDelete
  72. okay he does things differrently deosnt mean he is different
