Hello Team.

1st lets stay focused at our computer stations during our blogging time.  I was informed that our behaviour in the lab was so loud and disrespectful that we were spoiling other classes library periods.  Remember that we share the entire lab/library and must be aware that there are others in and using the library.  Lets not have a repeat performance.

Today I am giving you a writing task that you will be emailing to me for evaluation.

the question is: provide an argument agreeing or disagree with the idea that we should have 80 minute periods at BHJMS.

I am actually here today but at a meeting this morning about TCI.  I look forward to getting back to class this afternoon and getting back in the action.  The time away has felt like my universe is just a bit out of alignment.

Sorry class I will be away again today.

1. Again keep me posted on our progress for our food drive.  I am hoping we will have a great response.

2. As well our Black History project will centre around Harriet Tubman and the underground railway.  We shall follow the life of a slave through their capture, transportation, auction, slavery, and finally freedom.

Hello class, an unexpected absence for me today.

1. Please post and give me updates about our drive.

2. Please go back to the Eric Walters Post and look though his site and send him an email.  Post on the blog when you have finished and sent your letter

3. Now that I have finished marking your main idea I discover that a few have you have not finished.  Please finish and send.

4. research on line what will be the best way to spend our food drive money.  You will have to discover cost per item (ie if 20 juices cost 4.50 you have to solve for how much each individual one costs.  you can do this by dividing the amount of juices into the cost.)  Post your discoveries on the food can post.  Diapers are the most important item but also a good price per item if you can find a good bargin!

I hope that we will maximize our computer ti absense me and have more then the 6 posts the class had during a hour computer lab period on my last.

We have read and explored two Eric Walters novels.

This is a link to the Eric Walters website.  Look through it and deepen your knowledge of Mr. Walters.  Exploring his motivation and process to writing these novels.

You will see that there is a email address for Mr. Walters.  Please construct a letter to send him: include your 1st name, highlight that you attend a school in the TDSB and the class has studied Rebound and is now exploring the novel We All Fall Down.  Ask him a question specific to these novels and then invite him to join our class blog(highlighting that there have been many blogs concerning themes and characters from both novels)

Use a word format to construct your letter and then let Mr. Cheney read it before you send it.

Can Food / Toy Drive

Well a few students have asked me about our participation in the can food drive.  There have been years where my class has dominated this event.  Winning 3 times and at our climax fundraising over 3000 items 3 years ago.

Since then my class has had a minimal impact on this worthy event (reflective of the students and teacher -myself)

This class has a motivation and positive energy that inspires me to want to comeback to past glories.

If you want to make a lasting impact and push ourselves to the max in this crusade then let me know.  To collect 3000 items 3 years ago was a monumental task and required dedication sacrifice and a plan.

this has been my winning formula:
20 items per students
$10 per student

roughly we could raise

20 x 25 = 500 items
10 x 25 = $250 and that = 1200 diapers

that would be 1700 items.  The second largest total my class has ever collected ( when I got 3000 I had a class size of 38 students)

doable? yes but only if we have 100 percent participation and commitment!!!! and as we have discovered through bully awareness it takes a lot to follow through even with the best laid plans!!!

Black History Assembly 2

Ok lets start with the basics...we have to research and know the facts and stories well to make an accurate story.  Lets go with the underground railway story.  research and post and create a basic story line that we can use to create a movie script.
